I'm running Mandrake 9.1 with the latest Nvidia drivers 1.0.4349 on a Dell Inspiron 8500 laptop (Intel 845MP mb and GeForce4 Go 4200 with 64MB).
I'm experiencing random system lockups with some GL apps (celestia, foobillard). The lockups can be reproduced by maximizing/minimizing the GL window serveral times while some 3D animation is running, but they can occur in normal use as well. The caps & scroll lock leds flash and the system must be hard reset.
The only setup that appears to avoid this lockups is to disable AGP (setting NvAGP to 0).
I've also tried using NvAGP 1,2,3 and setting the AGP mode (by recompiling the nivida driver) but the lockups are still there.
This sucks because the performance is 30% lower (?) with NvAGP=0.
Any other suggestions?
