Does anyone know how to tweak the settings for Symantec's AntiVirus x64 version on Windows Vista x64? I currently running Symantec's AntiVirus x64 Full version: 10.2.0.298
I noticed before I installed this software that my computer was running alot faster. After installing Symantec AntiVirus x64-bit Edition I noticed that my system started running slower...it even boots slower.
I know most AntiVirus software makes a computer slower but is there any kid of settings I can use to tweak the Symantec AntiVirus x64 so that it's not such a resource hog? I like the added protection but the hit on performance just sucks! :thumbdwn:

******** IF YOU KNOW OF ANY KIND OF HELPFUL SERVICE TWEAK IN VISITA X64 FOR SYMANTEC ANTIVIRUS X64 THEN PLEASE SHARE YOU'RE WISDOM!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

I have a great tweak for Symantec. It's called Uninstall, works a treat.

I would have to agree with craiger ,uninstall and go get yourself Nod32 or Kaspersky.

So it doesn't effect anything while at the sametime it will run in the back ground and protect my computer. I want something as if I never installed it and it runs great and doesn't bog my system down.

i believe they call it "common sense" i'll have to go find a link for verification though. it's great because it will tell you what websites not to go to, things not to download/install. hasn't failed me yet!

alright sorry for the response. i didn't mean it to sound harsh, it was meant as a light-hearted comment. i take it back.
if you turn off some of the all the time scanning features and heuristics (sp?) it will decrease the resource usage. basically it's just a sacrifice of protection for performance. i personally would reccoment kaspersky if you're having trouble. it has such a small footprint and it works amazingly.

I have to agree with the general consensus.....uninstall that bad boy. I'm currently using AVG Free in Vista x64. Works great.

Are you running 10.1 or 10.2?

Is the installation managed (talks to a server) or unmanged (LiveUpdate)?

Hell, I don't even use any AV (LEE63) as I reformat every couple of months (lee)

Same here. I just always make sure I'm just running the latest client (I'm running xxxscreensaver.exe right now) and nothing can touch me.
