I downloaded monopoly yesterday. Very fun game BTW. But the demo runs only for 1 hour. Although if you are in the game you can play for an unlimited time. If you exit though, it's over.

But what I did was to uninstall the game, delete all reg entries with regcrawler and set back the date to the moment the game was installed. But it still shows that the trial period is over. How does the game know that it has been installed before.

I once read an explanation, but I forgot.

You might be missing oddly named registry keys.

Also, it might be leaving files behind in System/System 32, Application Data, Common Files, or who knows where.

What Q said. It's probably just something that got left behind that is hard to find.

If I ever had a problem like that, I'd just issue an "rm -rf ~/.evil-trial-software" or "sudo rm /usr/local/evil-trial-software" and try again. ;-)
