Crysis Screenshot Thread

You want to lower saturation. Load up the sandbox2 editor. Open a level.cry (ex. island.cry) from inside the levels>"level_name" folders. Then click the "terrain" drop down dialogue at the top of the editor and select "time of day." This opens the TOD editor. Then scroll down through the TOD scrub bars until you find the saturation variable. Don't bother with the numerical settings on the very right. Then double click on each yellow dot inbetween the first and last. You'll end up with only two yellow dots (the first and the last) and those will both be set to 1.0. Grab the first yellow dot and drag it down till you're at a saturation level of .43 (what I'm using for those shots).

To get the exact same look you'll also want to remove all the dots except for the first and last for the grain filter in TOD. You can then increase the grain to .24 (what I'm using for those shots). I then turn the sharpen filter down to zero but I only do this for gameplay because it can help smooth out the edges in combination with r_useedgeAA 2. I leave everything else at default.

The screenshots are taken at 4224x2376 and then down scaled to 1920x1080.

The above screens look really tame. One thing I like about Crysis is the vivid color scheme, which is opposite of today's brown and bloom scheme which every developer goes for nowadays. But I guess playing with lowered saturation adds a certain ambiance to it. Oh well, subjective stuff. :)

To each his own. I think the majority feels the same as you. I like a darker more cinematic art style. I don't think the default settings are over the top color wise but I just like the "Saving Private Ryan" look. You're certainly right that this sort of color scheme is popular with devs these days.

The installer is in german, but it should all be pretty obvious what is what. There are two different versions you can install, a performance and quality version. Also when it pops up a window during install it's simply asking you if the installer should make backups of the original Crysis levels.

Hm.. he looks to use the texture sharperning mod. Saw it somewhere over at crymod. Hehe, nice pics.. but i prefer it not to be overdone. HP's ultra quality config is the best imo.

I force 16xAF in the control panel, but u also need to diable POM ingame otherwise AF wont work. That, and supersample TSAA is the only thing i force in the CP. Works fine. I use the ingame settings for AA.
