I have a superclocked EVGA GTS 640mb flavor. The card with fan set at 70% idles at 67/68c. In games it gets to 80/85c. I just had my last card RMA'd for about the same temps which leads me to believe that this is really where the card is going to be operating at no matter what. Do you think these temps are to high? Should I pull the fan and use some artic silver on the gpu?
Mine idles @ 50*c running @ 621/900. After over 30 minutes of the Crysis Demo with everything on Very High except Shadows(high) and post processing(low) @ 1280x1024 the max temp I hit was 67*c. Thats with the fan @ 72%. Do you have good airflow in your case?? Whats the room temperature @??

My card is from MSI, but figgered I'd contribute. Fan set to 60%, idles at 50C and maxes out at about 65C (weather is cold here now).
85C isn't a critical temperature per se, though it's obviously higher than the norm. Since EVGA allows you to fiddle with the cooling solution without losing warranty, I'd give it a whirl.
I have mine from EVGA, mine idles around 65 and highest I have seen is around 76 77. I think its about fine considering mine runs around 60% fan.

Anything below 90c is laughing stock for this card.
Mine runs 83c to 85c under heavy loads, fan speed using Rivatuner profiles changes from 35% up to 75%, although at full load it runs at 55%. If it tries to go over 86c then fan speed ramps up to 75% or higher if needed, maxes out at 100% fan speed *if* the temp hits 90c, which it hasn't, ever.
