Help guys!!

I want to buy Planet Earth on Blu-ray but as far as I can see on amazon.co.uk the UK version of the "BBC complete series" is in 1080i while the US version of "BBC complete series" on amazon.com is in 1080p! Other than that I see no difference and they're both code free. I want it in 1080p, but which is true? Halp! :(

I can say for a fact that the Planet Earth HD DVD version and BD version in the US are encoded at 1080p24. (Unlike the BBC film Galapagos, for instance, which is 1080p30 on HD DVD and 1080i60 on BD).

It's likely that its just a misprint on the UK BD.

Tyger I recommend the Discovery version over the BBC. David Attenborough is annoying as hell.

Sacrilege!!!

I think Attenborough is a bit of an institution here. He's been doing all the premiere BBC wildlife docs for like 40 years.

The BBC US version is in 1080p but without any extras whatsoever, it's on four Blu-ray discs. The BBC UK version seems to be in 1080i but also having an extra disc with the extras from the SD DVD version.

Assuming this information is true, I really dunno if I would choose extras or 1080p. Probably 1080p. I would be happy if I could get any of this information verified :)

I've also posted on other forums and if I get an answer I'll post it back here ;)

You were right Ruined, we can safely consider it a misprint. I got it figured out thanks to a guy on the hidefdigest forum. In the UK BBC version all the menus are in 1080i, all the main footage are in 1080p, the extras on the last 5th disc are in 1080i. That hardly justifies the 1080i label on the case IMO, and must be considered a misprint. Looking foward to the series :)
