This is the first piece of software that can control both GPU fans on my 7950GX2 under Vista. I wonder if it a "premonition" of a new GX2 model being released by nVidia?;)

Man, why is it that we can't set the 2D fan to be like 25% then let it switch to 100% in 3D? Every app including Rivatuner, Expert Tool, and now this the 3D fan slider makes the fan go up in 2d mode. Annoying!

It used to work that way, but now the 2D & 3D fan speeds are linked and that is a limitation of the video driver.

Q1 08, code named D8E, possibly with two G92 GPUs (the ones in the 8800GT).

Yeah, but Q1 is ever so vague. It could be April! That's 5 months away and that's if they stick to a Q1 release. I'm not holding my breath.

Where is the official home of nTune? When I search nVidia's site I find two older versions.

Isn't this the newest? http://www.nvidia.com/object/ntune_5.05.54.00.html

www.nvidia.com is the home of nTune. They used to have betas up on nzone.com, but it no longer hosts the betas, they have all moved back over to nvidia.com.

Thanks, I believe that is the latest. I was really asking how to navigate to the latest version without a direct link. When I search or navigate the menus in www.nvidia.com I can only come up with older versions. I was just wondering if there was a redirect or generic URL available for bookmarking or such.

Could someone please try this for me....

The goal is to test profile save and loadwith fan setting to see if it works.

Steps:
1) Open nTune (nVidia Contol Panel)
2) Peformance -> Adjust GPU Settings
Click 'Direct Fan Control'
3) Drag the GPU(3D) slider up to say 80%
4) Apply
5) Profile -> Save
Enter name eg. FanTest.nsu and save.
6) Now Restore to 'Automatic fan control'
7) Profile -> Load

Does the fan setting get restored to Direct + 80% ?
In my case, 'Direct' is set, but fan is 29%, not 80%.

Remember to put your fan back to Auto, or load your default profile etc.
