I am thinking most of the Buffalo routers.

The Link sys routers don't handle GRE (Generic Route Encapsulation) VPN tunnels very well. Just doesn't happen and there's no way to trick it.The only (cheap) router I can think off that would handle GRE tunneling would be an inexpensive Cisco 800 series. They're nice and reasonable on eBay.Now rather than using GRE tunnels (These are so your VPN server and exchange routing updates with the other VPN peer), couldn't you just set up a regular IPSec/3DES tunnel between your VPN server and the head-end peer? You won't be able to route all of the remote networks through the VPN server but you'd be able to NAT all of the remote networks through the VPN server.

I finally got around to installing this on my Buffalo WHR-HP-G54.
There is a night and day difference in the router.
I also get much better wireless connections since I upped the output power.
The router is also much more responsive due to the 25% overclock I put on it.

I added in an old GPU HSF on the Broadcom chip to keep it cool.

So far, so good.....now just to setup the QoS.

We use these at work , no exception through out our domains and our remote
servers/clients are are accessed through VPN Ipsec tunnels.

They are very configurable and reliable.

Draytek the model we most frequently use is the 2800 GI wireless

Nice work. I love DD-WRT on my Linksys WRT54GL. I might try Tomato since it has nice traffic reporting.

Linksys WRT54G series are the most used with DD-WRT , this has certainly influence on the software creators .

Agreed. I've got one and i'm sure that my uptime is 100+ days. Love DDWRT.
