My year-old 8800 GTS just took a dive on me. Fortunately, I was able to use the replacement plan at CompUSA. I was interested in the 8800 GT since it is faster, but I was told I could only get a "like" product. I saw a new BFG 8800 GTS with "Extreme Edition" on the box. I exchanged my old 8800 for it thinking it was another overclocked 8800 GTS. After I got home and installed the card, I saw it was running noticably faster than my old 8800 GTS when it worked. I took a closer look at the box and saw that in addition to the overclocks of the memory and GPU, it also has "112 Stream Processors." I thought this card wasn't out yet, but obviously it is. I will say this that the card is quite a bit faster than the regular 8800 GTS. I did overclock my old 800 to 575/1800, and this card is still faster at 565/1700. I'll run some benchmarks and compare the cards a little closer. I know I'm CPU limited, but we'll see.

Your comparison should be interesting. Does GPU-Z show 112 shaders?

Sweet - Do us a favor and upload your bios to www.mvktech.net and post in http://www.mvktech.net/index.php?option=com_joomlaboard&func=view&catid=10&id=46772

MVKETECH is willing to flash a bios from a GTS w/ 112 Stream Processors on a GTS w/ 96 Stream Processors GTS. Those of us with a GTS is interested in seeing if this is possible. See http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=102073

Please do this! From reviews it seems to be the exactly same PCB so there is a small chance it could work. Dumping a bios only costs ya a few minutes.

It would definitely be interesting to see if it works.

You just need to download nibitor 3.5 and open it and click on tools and read Bios and select device ,then click on the 8800GT and then go back to the tools and select Read Bios in a file and save it.Then you could send it to www.mvktech.net.That way we can see if it does anything ,I don't look for it to do nothing ,but it would be nice if it did work.

I'll call EVGA with the hopes they can email me the BIOS file. I'll do it in the AM for us:captnkill: Wish me luck
