Greetings everyone! I am a Linux n00b and I'm having a problem with my RH9 installation. For whatever reason, my Nvidia NV25 GeForce4 Ti 4600G 128-MB AGP Graphics Card has always seemed to be the problem child for Linux installs, but I have always gotten around it until now.

With RH8 I was able to install by turning off frame buffering (nofb) but this option seems to have been removed with RH9.

When I toss my Knoppix in I always have had to type something like linux xmodule=vesa to get it to run. I tried this with RH9 but that doesn't work either. I wouldn't mind installing with the VESA drivers because it's no problem to install the NVIDA drivers after that.

I have tried turning off hardware detection, monitor probing, and running it in lowres mode. None of these have worked. Any suggestions??? Am I just missing the frame buffering thing???

Thanks a billion,

-Matt

Are you running it with a flat panel? Does text mode work?

It is a flat panel. Text mode does work but I would like to avoid it...

RH9 switched to the "nv" driver for installation - the nv driver has some known issues with flatpanels.

That makes sense. When I tried to install the NVIDA drivers once before I accidentally set it to "nv" instead of "nvidia" and all heck broke loose.

Do I have any other option than a text install? Is there any way I can tell it to use the vesa driver?

I haven't played around with RH's current installer enough to tell you, unfortunately.

Thanks anyway. I appreciate your help! At least I know what I'm looking for now...
