This is strange:

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/834/834676p1.html
IGN - 7.7

http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/assassinscreed/review.html?sid=6182793&tag=topslot;title;3&om_act=convert&om_clk=topslot
Gamespot - 9.0

Seems like this game is getting mixed reviews. Anyone have it yet? I'd like to hear some comments before I buy it.

Bloomin reviews. I wonder if there will be a demo for the game.

Usually it's the other way around with Gamespot giving out the lower score.

1up.com gave the game a 7

With so many triple A games out Assassin's Creed is a rental for me sometime in the distant future.

It's got a press average of 8.8 so far. Could be a decent game. I'm just surprised the "big two" reviews are so far apart.

I think there was an interview with Jade Raymond and she said there wouldn't be a demo.

Crysis has ranged from 100/100 to 80/100, so it's not like every great game that comes out is consistant with reviews. Anytime a game actually DOES get good reviews across the board someone usually shouts that the reviewers were bought or pressured. The only benefit of reviews isn't the score, but what they say- you read enough of them and you'll know what the games pros and cons are and you can assign a score yourself

I'm still getting it. I'm a huge history buff, and I love stealth/assassin type games so this is definitely on my must buy list.

This game has had my attention since I saw it on when the company first showed it on some tech thing back in the spring. I am looking forward to playing it.

The lengthy load times for levels (upwards of five minutes at some points) is forgivable considering that once in game you can run from one end of Jerusalem to the other and from depths of the darkest alley to the tip-top of the highest building.

Holy crap! :headexplode:

I'm trying to figure out which version to get, PS3 or 360? There's some reviews saying the PS3 version has a more stable framerate but then the 360 looks better. I dunno?

I just downloaded the Head 2 Head comparison video from IGN and the 360 version definately looks better and runs smoother than the PS3, so I would go with the 360 verision for that reason because other than that, they are pretty much identical it looks like

The frame rate is not only far more noticeable, but you can see the difference between the two consoles at any point in the game, not just large open environments. Simply rotate the camera around Altair in the first town and the PS3 clearly runs a good 5 to 10 frames a second behind 360. This really becomes apparent when performing a quick move like the leap of faith from a building's ledge. What looks highly stylized on 360 only highlights the poor frame rate of the PS3.

i'm not 100% sure, but this game is not historically accurate.

lol, obviously. I'm just interested in how well they have recreated locations from that period of time. that and the guild altair is apart of has some real-life origins.

Got my copy through today and what can I say, amazing game.

The fight mechanics really do make you feel like a badass Assassin, infact I would go asfar to say it has the best combat system out of any game of it's type.

I cannot for the life of me work out why this was compared to Crackdown, they have a totally different feel. Crackdown was a comic book mish mash where you jump from one place to another, Assassins Creed is more like Tenchu with more intricate and subtle joys.

It's definately worth buying, if only to get a good feeling for this new style of game engine.

I wonder if the new Splinter Cell will be using a similar engine too.

One common review complaint is the game is very repetitive so the gameplay gets old quickly. :(

When is the PC version due to be released?

Has a set release date for 15th February 2008 in the UK, so I assume a week before that in the US.

Does it really take 5 minutes to load certain stages? That's simply unacceptable.

It's all a matter of opinions. Come on -- play it yourself and decide. NEVER go by reviews.

IGN would give the game "go outside and step on a dog turd" an 8.7 . Still don't understand why people bother going to that site.
