The game is short, but the medals, rewards and bonuses should be enough to bring you back at least once.

Looking good... but I wonder exactly how short is the game?

About 7-8 hours apparently. I wouldn't really call that short, as long as I enjoy all of it. :)

Definitely buying when it's out!

Eurogamer (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=87533) gave it an absolutely glowing review, as well as a 9/10 score.

Can't wait to play this.

Hmmm, this game looks good and from what I hear it's great as well. Hopefully one of you PS3 guys can nab it soon and give us an impression.

After this review I am forcing myself not to watch anymore footage of this game. I know I'm getting it, no point in potentially seeing or reading some spoilers....like where ign mentions something about a 180 towards the end of the game. I know if I go on sony forums, or gamefaqs, someone will post this surprise in a subject title.

Too bad I'm forcing myself to wait until xmas for this :zombie4:

Man this game is really tempting me to pick up a PS3 right now! :D

But I need to finish The Witcher, Crysis, and CoD4 first. :( And Super Mario Galaxy is coming in from Gamefly. *sigh* Can't do much since I can only devote 1-2 hour a day to gaming at the most.

I hear you! At this point in my life, when a review docs a game points for being too short, I add points to it. Anything more than 10 hrs, ends up not getting finished by me as I usually move on to other games by then. I really should catch up this winter on my backlog of unfinished games, since as of now, there does not seem to be too much coming out in Q1 08 that interests me.

LOL then we're alike in that regards. When I first heard Call of Duty 4 is only 5-6 hours single player, I was relieved to hear that. Even when it's considered short by many, I've yet to finish the game, but am enjoying it immensely. When I hear a game is 15-40 hours long, I'm like, ugh. It'll take a really good game like The Witcher for me to go through that, since the chances of me finishing it is pretty low.

I have the game, Gamestop sold it early to people who preordered...

It's an amazing experience, just enough combat and just enough exploration/platforming. The graphics are amazing, especially lighting and water effects... the voice acting is superb, the story actually funny and interesting.

This game is a blockbuster.

+1

Got it yesterday at Best Buy and this is a must get game if you own a PS3. The gameplay along with the graphics (possiably the best graphics on console I have seen, playing in 1080p here). Iam on act 4 which is where the demo starts. Excellent game go and buy it!

I know what you're all talking about. Still playing Crysis, Assassin's Creed, The Witcher, Strangle Hold, and soon Drake, Time Crisis 4, and the Zelda Crossbow thing. This month is insane. But I'd still want the games to be 12+ hours long especially on the PS3 side where games run $60. I know I'll be holding off on CoD4 and UT on the PC because I just won't have time for them for a while. Unfortunately for CoD4 and UT, I know I won't buy them till they drop in price since I didn't buy them the week they are released.

That's quite impressive.

Personally I really don't mind. I hate games that milk what little they have so much. I'd rather it be a memorable 7-8 hours.

Gah! Another short game. Seriously wtf is up with all these short games, esp. for $60!

And not surprising, since I finished Crysis, Uncharted isn't so great looking any more. :(

Yeah I personally don't like it when people dis short games.

Look at the Metal Gear Solid series... they're each like 15 hours max playthrough, yet they feel so complete and polished. Plot and all.

Besides, a 15 hour game normally takes me a week to finish anyway. I don't sit and play possessed for 10 hours at a time like I used to..

I would have thought 15 hours was considered a good length for a game. Its the ones that last more like 6-8 hours that irk people (e.g. Heavenly Sword and COD4).

I think games tend to feel shorter if they're very good. I mean that people always want more and are disappointed when a game is over. For example Heavenly Sword felt very short, but I enjoyed the game immensely while it lasted. While CoD4 was shorter than HS, I didn't "feel" it was that shorter in any way because at some point I was actually a little tired by CoD4 and wanted it to end. I also consider 10-12 hours very good for an action game, and 20+ hours for an RTS/RPG, as long as they're good games...

Hell, I used to think Chrono Trigger (20 hrs) was short..

This is when I was 8 or 9!

COD4 was made with multiplayer in mind though to be fair.

If you consider the vast amounts of game types, the awesome ranking system and Arcade Mode, the game is actually alot bigger than people realise.

I bit the bullet and ordered the bugger. :) Now, we have:
Gears of War, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, FEAR: PM, Crysis, Folklore and this. Goodbye social life. :headexplode:

Good move, you won't regret it. I am only a little ways into it but from what I have played so far this game is very impresive. Great graphics, lighting, gameplay, and story. It is not very original and I think that is why the reviews are not as high as they should be. Reminds me a little bit of prince of persia, GOW and Tomb Raider, but put together very nicely. The best game I have played all year. By the way I have both a PS3 and a 360 so I am not a fan boy.:)

I've put about 3 hours into this game and I have to admit that it's fun. The graphics are amazing at times but there are a few places where things like the shadow effects are super low quality (cut scenes in submarine). The game is very linear (limited exploration) and the combat while fun is very repetitive. There are a few puzzle elements but they're few a far in between. The jump sequences break up the combat but I'm left wanting more. I know I've listed a few negatives but the game as a whole is good. Sure it's not what I ultimately wanted (think Tomb Raider Legend on steriods) but so far it's a fun and graphically stunning addition to the PS3 library.

Verdict: Good (not great). Rent it!

Hmmm...What about the vehicle sequences? Also according to the reviews I've read there is a serious change in gameplay toward the end of the game. A change for the better according to IGN.
