Autoexec.cfg = on 2nd page of this thread

Pics *downsized for the majority 1024 X 600

UPDATE: They didn't upload correctly, I'll do tonight

r_UseEdgeAA=1 (or 2 for another method, performance should be the same but some prefer one over the other)

r_TexturesStreaming=0 (if you want full textures in 32-bit on the mountain)

Does it effect performance from not having r_UseEdgeAA at all?

r_TexturesStreaming=0 (if you want full textures in 32-bit on the mountain)

I also tried that too, but during the GPU test it didn't seem to change anything, only while flying around the lookout did the textures seem to pop in on texture montain. Or does this for some reason only effect it while actually playing the game...

Performance hit shouldn't be huge at all. I remember some guy in the demo thread reported like 1fps hit.

It's a workaround, it disables texture streaming and depending on the amount of your system ram and vram you might experience textures popping up and since the GPU test has very fast camera movement it would explain what you saw. I have not see this problem during actual gameplay with 2GB and a GTX though.

Hey Sowk have a look here; http://incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?pid=251365#p251365

Thats what u need to do to get highres mountain textures! ;)

If you want to know how AA works and the differances between the various AA kinds and levels have a look here in my thread: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=1432990&postcount=1

If this is what edge aa was supposed to fix, then its not working, but is there a way to smooth out the edges of tree leaves and such? AA is working but there is still that hard edge on trees and the sky behind it.

Btw I dropped my resolution down to 720p (using very high DX10 settings) and turned on the aa. Visualy the game didnt suffer much at all (vs 1050 with no AA) and I gained an avg of 7 fps to run at 25fps. Definetly a frame rate I can enjoy for single player (multiplay of course usually need close to 40fps minimum).

I think to me that the Digital and blocky edge look of brush, and leaves, and plams is the only thing keeping this game from photo realism. :(

Almost like the same effect that not turning on Supersampling AA for metal chain link fences in Source based games have.

With Supersample AA metal chain link fences in Source based games look Great!

This is what EdgeAA does:

EdgeAA = 2 looks good from the pic, but I would have to see it on my computer in motion.

Does make things look fat... lol

True. :) Hopefully they will support true TRAA (MS or SS) later on because currently their vegetation renderer doesn't properly support it. Of course TRAA will always cause a larger performance hit (very large considering the amount of vegetation in Crysis) but having the option to use it would be nice.

r_DepthOfField = from 2 to 1 or 0.
e_detail_materials_view_dist_xy = 4096 or 8192.
e_terrain_normal_map = 0
r_TexturesStreaming = 0

Make sure that r_TexturesStreaming is at the end of the list.

where are these located?

Create an autoexec.cfg in x:\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis and copy/paste the lines into the file.

Do those demo tweaks work well in the full game?

can edge aa be used with FSAA? maybe that was my problem, I had AA on.

These are my new settings!

I think they are near perfect.

Autoexec file:

ai_UseAlternativeReadability = 0

r_UseEdgeAA = 0

r_sunshafts = 1
r_UsePOM = 1

e_water_ocean_fft = 1

q_renderer = 3
r_colorgrading = 1

r_TexResolution = 0

e_detail_materials_view_dist_xy = 8192
e_terrain_normal_map = 0
r_TexturesStreaming = 0

where do you put the autoexec.cfg file?

Sowk

where do you put the autoexec.cfg file?

Where ever you installed the game.

Example: if you have installed right to the C: drive.

Put it right into the main folder only. no subfolders.

C:\Crysis\

So in DOS (yes I know DOS - I'm dating myself) it would look like this

C:\Crysis\Autoexec.cfg

thanks, so its similar to the system.cfg file.

'Very High' On The Cheap

There's another thing you can try if you find Very High mode is just a bit too strenuous for your system. You can try the "cheap" version of Very High, which basically only implements the more obvious visual enhancements of Very High. To do this, instead of editing your .cfg files as covered above, all you need to do is set your in-game settings all to High as normal, then add the following commands to your System.cfg file (or just test them in the console first): r_UsePOM=1, r_sunshafts=1, r_colorgrading=1. This will make High look extremely similar to Very High, but with a bit less of a performance hit. In a pinch, if you still need extra FPS, try disabling color grading as it takes up a big chunk of FPS. You can also turn off Edge AA (r_UseEdgeAA=0) to make things look crisper and boost performance further. That's the quick way to get Very High on the cheap, but obviously if you want to do things in more depth (which I recommend), then read through the Advanced Tweaking section of this guide and put together your own custom configuration to meet your needs.

Don't know if this has been posted somewhere in this section yet, but this is a pretty good basic guide:

is there any tweaks to make it look even better than it already does?
