View Full Version : nVidia On FreeBSD-7-Current
Hi!
I'm going to do a reinstall and install FBSD-7-BETA2 fresh.
Will I have any problems with nVidia drivers on 7-current? After the Xorg upgrade/7.3 I downloaded the driver and did a manual install on 6x-stable, will this same process work with 7-current?
TIA.
The NVIDIA FreeBSD graphics driver is not supported on FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT, but can be made to work; please see e.g. http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=100280 for more information. Also, there's a known stability problem affecting SMP systems that may be more pronounced on FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT; please see http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=99604 for details.
I'm running 7.0-BETA2 with the latest stable drivers installed via ports and it is working fine. Had no problems installing it either...
In installed 7.0-BETA2 on one of my systems yesterday and kicked off an Xorg ports/ build. I'll double-check whether there are out-of-the-box installation problems (aside from the 7.0-CURRENT check) and fix the sign comparison warnings (just in case).
Installed latest drivers from ports ... starting Xorg and see this:
XIO: fatal IO error 53 (Software caused connection abort) ... after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining
Xorg 7.3 FreeBSD 7.0 B2 NVidia GeForce 7300 GO
Are you seeing any other errors?
Google found a similar, not nVidia related report here (http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg/2007-October/029662.html).
with "nv" driver all fine works
Please generate and attach an nvidia-bug-report.log file.
