I'm gonna upgrade to Vista 64 bit, but should I get Ulitmate at £100 or Home Premium at £55?

I've got Ultimate 32bit atm, but is there really anything in Ultimate that i'll miss if I get Home Premium 64?

Eh? I thought Ultimate had both 32-Bit and 64-Bit versions packed in the box... O_o

If it's not like that in the UK, then you should be able to just use Microsofts "Alternate Media" request form (just pay shipping, and maybe tax since you're in the UK).

Thanks for the reply. I bought the OEM version of Vista Ultimate x86. I'm sure the 64bit version is on the disk but my key is for the 32bit one.

I'll check out the link.

Vista keys aren't tied to x86 or x64. They are only tied to the specific edition and license type. In your case, that is just vista ultimate OEM, doesn't matter if it is 32-bit or 64-bit. OEM copies only include one version, either 32-bit or 64-bit, but not both, but you can still install either one AFAIK. What you do is download the 64-bit MSDN DVD and then use that to install your copy using your key.

After you download it, run a sha1sum against it and so long as it matches that number there is no chance of it e.g. having a virus. Or if you don't want to download anything, then there is another route you can take. You can buy the Windows Anytime Upgrade 64-bit disc (which is basically just a vista installation DVD with no included license/key,) for $5 from compusa, and use that with your OEM key, same as described above.

Note that it might take you a while to download that via bittorrent, you're better off getting it from emule. I can post the emule hash if you want, but I probably shouldn't post the actual URL. You could possibly find it yourself by googling:

Any reviews I've read as of late indicated performance is rather identical.

And from my own experience, my fps is either equivalent to what I get in XP or better. But never lower. ;)

I think that the drivers have almost caught it up, at least in DX9 mode.
