As I mentioned in Superkyle's thread, my wife and I are getting this samsung

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-HLT5087S-Slim-Engine-1080p/dp/B000N50RLO/ref=sr_1_16/105-2830572-8459618?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1191960932&sr=1-16

and I want to get a good upscaling 1080P dvd player to go with it and move our current player into our bedroom to watch movies.

Is this one any good?

We'd like to keep it under $100.

Why non HD/Blueray players??
If $100 is your budget you should be able to(once again) get the Toshiba A2 HDDVD player for under $100. Watch the black Friday sales.
It does a good job at upscaling SDDVD's to 1080i. You won't see a difference between 1080i or p depending on the TV's upscaler.
Read the reviews at Amazon.

Toshiba HD-A3 can be had at Sears on Black Friday for $169 before noon.

Real HD looks a crapload better than upconverted DVD, definitely worth the $69 (equal to about 5-6 DVDs more than $100)

And the A3 makes an awesome upscaler for regular DVDs as well!

Its not, its virtually the same thing. Some are complaining that the A3 has downcoverted Dolby Digital optical output instead of downconverted DTS optical output, but i dont really think that matters much since in both cases if you want the full quality you need to use HDMI. DD vs DTS is not really going to matter much in the scope of things. Aside from that, the A3 1.3 firmware upgrade pretty much solved any other complaints people had.

Get an Oppo if they still make them. The best upconverting DVD players around.

Sears will have the HD-A3 for $169 5am-noon Black Friday, the ad has been posted already. Probably will need to show up before 5am if you want to get one. This deal includes 7 free HD DVD movies as well - 2 included in the box (300, The Bourne Identity) and 5 free via mail (http://www.thelookandsoundofperfect.com/_pdf/perfect_hd_dvd_offer_redemption_form.pdf). It really is worth the extra $69 because HD DVD blows upconverted DVD out of the water. And for the purposes of upconverting standard DVD, most also put the HD-A3 HD DVD player on better footing than the standard DVD-only Oppo anyway.
