Why is 64% the minimum I can set the GPU fan to in RivaTuner? Is there any way around this...

Why would you want to go higher? They get too loud.

:o

Mine can be set anywhere from 29% up to 100%... that's weird. You've been tinkering again... haven't you. :p

AFAIK once you set the fan speed in Riva, that is where it always is in 2D, 3D, and performance 3D, with these 169.xx drivers.

Are you making sure to use the low level fan settings instead of the driver level settings? I've got a series of launcher items to set fan speed based off of temperature, and it works flawlessly.

You might find these useful:

You can't hear 70? Mine stay right at 45... silent. :D

Well in Vista64 my 8800GT was not audible at all so I thougth "what a silent card" until I discovered that it always stays at 29%, no mather the temperature. I quited games at 86C and even higher. Very strange. The 8800gts that I had before obviously behaved the same though thanks to its better cooling solution I quited games at 83C. Now I installed RivaTuner 2.06 and set 5 different fan speeds, from 30% to 80% and assign them to increasing temperature levels. My card never exceeds 75C now though it is quite noisy at speeds above 50% :(

My fans are at 45% all the time, and the card never reaches 60C. In Crysis after 5 hours of playing it was 58C.

The difference is that I replaced the factory cooling compound with AS5, and my case is a wind tunnel. :)

My fans are set up just like CaptKill's... I'll try to find it.

It's basically like this: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=1388653&postcount=836

In addition, I have a 120mm fan blowing at an angle onto the GT, and I also have a blower sitting below the GT.

I'll take a pic tonight 4 u.
