Hi there
Currently running:
AMD FX-60
BFG 7950GX2
XP Pro
2gb PC3200c DDR 400
Antec True Power 2 550w PSU

Thinking it might be time to switch from the 7 series card to 8 series.

Two questions:
a) Should I stick with the 7950GX2 and see what's coming out over the next few months from nVidia ?
b) If I change to an 8 series card, which one will be best suited to the above specs ?
c) Is it really necessary to change GPU ? Will the 7950GX2 keep me going for another year until I get 'round to a complete makeover of my current setup ?

Appreciate your input

cheers

Depends, what is your price range? The G80 or higher will knock the socks off that 7 series card.

Hi there

I guess what I'm seeking is an answer to is which is the BEST card ( putting aside price for a moment ) that matches my CPU.

Would that be the 8800GT 512mb or 8800GTS 640mb ??

Would either be suitable with the FX-60 ??

cheers

Between those two, I'd get the 8800GTS 640MB SSC, but the 8800GT is cheaper and performs great. You really can't go wrong with either one.

What size monitor / resolution you running?

EDIT: Or actually, just wait and see if the new series of cards are going to be released in Dec.

Running a 20" LCD at 1600 x 1200.

I'm guessing the 8800GTS 640mb may well be the way to go.
I'm more concerned about avoiding CPU bottleneck if I get a card that is too powerfull for the FX-60
