View Full Version : What's up with the bulletproof troops?
I just bought it today. Even with an 8800 GTS 640. The game is gorgeous using xp tweaks. I love this game...
BUT
the fact that the North Korean troops refuse to die is hurting my immersion. Why did they do this? :( I shot a guy in the face with sniper rifle but he didn't die. His helmet came off. I didn't hit his helmet I shot him square between the eyes. One guy rolled on the ground after jumping over a wall. I put plenty of rounds into him but he didn't die.
And enemies are killing me at long range with shotguns :thumbdwn:
Makes me feel like I'm using a high powered bb gun.
Is it different on delta?

Hehe...that guy sure is ugly for a "god."
I know some of the enemies are wearing body armor. I've been tryint to do some research to find out what would really happen if you shot someone wearing body armor at long range with an ak47.
How much power does a silencer really take off?
I read one soldier in Iraq got shot by an armor piercing sniper round in the back. He said it felt like someone hit him in the back. He didn't know he was shot.

headshots are kinda useless if they are using a machine gun turret. Aiming the face results in a helmet shot. For the bullet proof guys, they were pretty easy to take down if you aim around the upper chest level. The recoil of your gun will go for their face. You could easily take one of those guys down in a short burst from the SCAR with the assault scope. This was on hard difficulty though, not sure if its the same for delta.
Its the armor. I think its pretty cool. Shooting there head when they have helmets on also just..clips it right off there head. At long range i find that when it hits there chest area..it doesn't do much dmg. Just gotta love Crysis sometimes..the amount of detail they went into this game..

If they wear a helmet you need to shoot in the face. If you are near enough, it works every time (at least for me).
Or you could use incendiary ammo. Two shots to the chest and they are down. Every time I tried it. But this ammo is found only in some NK bases.

i love the nano suit get invisible and walk up to them, grab them then hold them and lastly throw them, then shoot instant death. Or just be invisible and walk close and shoot them instant death....crysis is so ultra violent, one forgets the sick and scary condemned. Man i couldnīt play it at nights gave me the creeps

There is armor right now that can withstand a full magazine of 7.62x39 (AK47) rounds at relatively close range with zero penetration.
Its called Dragon Skin:

Its safe to say that 20 years from now, someone will be wearing it. Its too bad our troops aren't right now.

Yeah, they could.
Whose going to buy them the armor?
Do you want too?

^ it depends on the gun and the rounds used

Hmm...I didn't know that. Even in shallow water? Thanks for busting that myth for me.
I don't ever run across that show...maybe I'll Tivo it now.

Yeah, even in shallow water. When hitting the water as fast as a bullet, the water is going to act like a brick wall.

It depends on surface tension. In some areas (like near a vulcan) the bullets would go deeper into the water.

hahahaa I remember that one! Seemed like the bigger the bullet, the less deadily it became. The bullets are ripped to pieces when they hit the water. I think adam was saying that he'd have been totally safe just a couple of feet underwater.
Oh and that dragon skin is awesome stuff. I saw the episode of future weapons where he showed that. Truly incredible stuff.

Wait till they charge you head first, aim upper-center mast, and they'll die fast. I also found it was easier to simply hit my "grab enemy" button and beat the sh*t outta them then waste my bullets. AFAIK incendiary vs. regular ammo has no effect on those aliens, but unproven.
For the regular troops, they do have tough armor on their chest, that's why I stick to silenced shots into their face. And whenever I can I enable the laser sight even for long rage shots, in a close-medium range fire-fight, just use semi-auto and tap it into their face and they'll be down.
Also remember that there's no way to steady your shot, technically you could hit the fire button and it will be off the mark, just by that crucial inch. So I've started to basically train my mind to "pre-fire" where I think the reticle will be. Doing this can get you 1-shot kills even if the NKA has his back to you. Generally speaking I've found the AI to be lackluster when I run with my Cloak/Silenced HS/Cloak strat.
I think the next time through the game I will try to play it without guns (where I can).

Even FMJs or AP rounds at a larger angle (60-90 degrees off the water surface)? I never watched the show but I know bullets can even ricochet off water surfaces but something tells me that AP rounds would kill Adam if they were shot at a larger angle.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they were just using standard FMJ in that episode. Maybe hollow points, but definitely not AP.
I think a piece of steel would probably keep right on going. The reason the other bullets exploded was because they were so soft. Obviously, steel is not soft.

I just side step the small alien charges and then melee them with strength mode. take out the bigger flying aliens with 2 gauss rounds.
