I fixed my last problem with HL and XP (crashing), and now it works fine, but there is one wierd quirk.

I have all the mouse acceleration off in windows (mouse threshhold is "0" in registry) yet in HL, there is some SERIOUS mouse acceleration\mouse threshhold crap going on. No matter what sensitivty I set to, the mouse always has this extremely annoying acceleration.

What I mean is: I move the mouse slowly and it moves REALLY REALLY slowly, even at high sensitivity, its actually DIFFICULT to move the crosshair tiny amounts. Yet, at the same sensitivity, I can move the mouse at my normal speed and it spins me around 120 degrees. Its so freaking unpredictable that I cant play. Ive always turned off mouse acceleration in games and windows so im not used to it at all (and I have no desire to ever get used to it).

If anyone knows why HL would have a high mouse threshhold (mouse acceleration), PLEASE tell me. Ive played HL for almost 4 years in Win9x and now that I use XP, it has the stupid "feature" enabled.

And YES, I tried win9x compatibility mode... no change.

are you playning in d3d or GL?..D3D causes %95 of systems to have mouse lag when used in HL. If you must absolutley use D3D for half life then use this command to get rid of mouse lag a.k.a crazy mouse

Crap... THATS what I forgot to put in my sig!

Ive got a Logitech MX500. Default XP drivers seem to work GREAT in games! I can bind *4* buttons now as apposed to just 3 before in 98se(large side button and middle button were the same function). I dont think this is a mouse issue tho, I havent noticed it in any other games, but it could be there, its just that ive played soooooooo much half-life that if one thing is wrong, it screws me all up.

EDIT: Updated my sig. And no im not running in D3D mode... what do you think I am? A moron? :p

i have that same mouse! and i swear that i notice mouse acceleration in some fps... ravenshield, splinter cell... etc. how about the mouseware drivers?? have you tried those? i dont use them because i am no fan of logitech drivers, but it might help... if not you can always delete it.

also with the default windows drivers, in mouse properties, there is no option to turn off mouse acceleration... when you have the drivers installed, there is an option.

I also get the same problem with an MS optical mouse, switching to OGL fixes it for me too.

Well, I FINALLY FIXED THE PROBLEM!!!!!

After not playing HL for about a month, we had a LAN party and I HAD to get it installed.

I couldnt take that rediculous mouse lag, so I started scouring the web for a fix.

Just download the Mouse Acceleration Fix, run the registry file, and it will patch Windows so mouse acceleration is NEVER on!!!

It works too!
