I fixed my last problem with HL and XP (crashing), and now it works fine, but there is one wierd quirk.
I have all the mouse acceleration off in windows (mouse threshhold is "0" in registry) yet in HL, there is some SERIOUS mouse acceleration\mouse threshhold crap going on. No matter what sensitivty I set to, the mouse always has this extremely annoying acceleration.
What I mean is: I move the mouse slowly and it moves REALLY REALLY slowly, even at high sensitivity, its actually DIFFICULT to move the crosshair tiny amounts. Yet, at the same sensitivity, I can move the mouse at my normal speed and it spins me around 120 degrees. Its so freaking unpredictable that I cant play. Ive always turned off mouse acceleration in games and windows so im not used to it at all (and I have no desire to ever get used to it).
If anyone knows why HL would have a high mouse threshhold (mouse acceleration), PLEASE tell me. Ive played HL for almost 4 years in Win9x and now that I use XP, it has the stupid "feature" enabled.
And YES, I tried win9x compatibility mode... no change.
