I've heard that the Maxtors are quieter, and I do own 2 in this system and have built numerous systems with them without incident, but my friend has a WD800JB and it's great. Plus I'd save $8.

I've got the WD800JB, and it's a great drive, quiet and very fast.

That's my vote...

Im a but qurious on IBM180GXP..
Sure they have lost alot of trust with the 75GXP?
series that broke down alot...
But reviews of the new IBM series looks good..
Anyone have any experience with em?
I got 2 old IBM HDs that still work fine, one 27gb
ata 66 and one 45gb ata100.. and they have a few
years on them now..
Anyway i ordered a maxtor disk for now..
was eyeing WDs drives but some of those doesnt
work very good with NForce2 atm.. certain firmware
versions...

If i had a huge pile o doe id buy 2 WD Raptor 10.000 rpm
SATA and RAID em, only 36gb or so tho... but i dont so i wont..

I have heard from a few sites and magazines that the Hitachi/IBM 180GXP's are faster than the WD 8MB cache drives.

Just ordered an 80gig WD Special Edition (8MB) off newegg for $89 last night! :super:

Give Mom the cash to deposit in her account so I could use her card.

My Maxtor 30GB is going in my brother's machine that I built the other day with the last of my spare parts. Only gonna charge him $70 for the sucker so the harddrive is technically free.

Yeah IBM GXP180 is one of the fastest drives today also very reliable due to the fluid barring unlike their other drives.

If i had a large pile of dosh i would go with 15k rpm SCSI drives :D
