I think that sums up this game enough since people can't stop ******** about this game. It is very awesome to me, but since the hardware cannot keep up with it. It's obvious that this game was released too damn early then.

that's why they said from the start you wont be able to run it at max settings and its suppose to scale i guess people don't listen though and demand everything to be available instantly..

I think if it came out in Jan or Feb it would have been better... heck so many games out now that a delay would have hardly mattered... plus would be a lot closer to 9800 release.
I feel like upgrading to GTX or Ultra however I know I'll still get crap fps at 1920x1200 high/very high... I don't care the price I just wish there was something better to upgrade to (nana2)
And I don't mean SLI ;)
*prays 9800 isnt 8950 :headexplode: *
well it took FarCry 2-3 years before it could be played silk-smooth with maximum settings, I'd reckon it will the same case with Crysis. give it time ;)
Crysis was released too early? No, hardware released too late :D

I doubt there will be completely new GPU architecture near future. With ATI lagging far behind I think NVidia will take its time. I expected the new high end card for christmas, all they did was to release g92 which is very good gpu but nothing unseen. I suspect the next top of the crop card will really be something with 2 g92s with full 128 shader units each. BTW with the fast increasing monitor resolutions and game's demands GPUs are not quite capable keeping the pace.

Runs fine and looks great after tweaks on my rig.

Haha agreed. If crysis wasnt delayed so many times in the past, then that would be too early. :D

Yeah can you imagine the chaos if it had been released at its original date (Fall 2006)... Would have run at 5fps in Vista with best hardware :p

Maybe the devs used Geforce 10 series cards themselves when developing and testnig the game.

no in lots of interviews they said they not only used ultras/gtx's, but lower cards like gts's and such. guess they weren't looking for good framerates while they were working in it then.

Amen to that. We've already waited all summer for the new games to come out.

The hardware wasn't really any different a year ago.
The 8800GTX has been out since November 9th 2006.

From a pure hardware standpoint this is absolutely true. The QX6700 was released in November as well, so people who were running quad + 8800GTX SLI haven't seen much of an improvement except for maybe drivers and an extra 2GB ram. There were several people on this forum who ran systems with those specs, alot fewer now, ironically many decided to drop the 2nd GTX.
The direction the graphics industry going is starting to really annoy me. It seems like Nvidia and AMD both think that adding more and more gpus (gpus by themselves that are severely lacking in Crysis - even a step back from where they were a year ago) will somehow change the performance problems...

they did bad with coding the game simple as that youīll see when you have 9800GTX SLI it still runs crappy iīm sure and when the 10series of cards comes you still can max the game but it will be heavy it wonīt get smooth because the code was done wrong....and no i am not ranting because i canīt run it i can and i have finished it.
but still something is done wrong with the game iīm sure it is
Frankly thats a good thing .. i'm sick of games being delayed most of the time.

Some games never gonna run well, even on the most superior hardware ...

I think this one will... it scales pretty well if you drop res and some settings. The fact that it is playable at 25FPS says a lot... most games aren't.

Well, almost every company release their games too early and fix the remaining bugs with patches ....
On consoles nowadays u see the same evolution (consoles with HDD that become bigger and bigger)
In the past the console game had to be almost bugfree before it went gold, nowadays there are also alot of bugs left (lesser than on pc, but still enough), cause they know they can still patch the game afterwards...

I'm sure you're 100% qualified to say this! I mean come on. CryEngine 2 is the most technologically advanced game engine the PC has ever seen. It is pushing year old GPU technology to its limits. It's capable of environments the size we've never seen in any other game. Have you ever watched the dynamic lighting and shadowmap system? You can watch shadows move and change as time goes on. Not many games come anywhere near this level of realism. I think this game engine is far more of a marvel at present time than CryEngine 1 was at its time. We need games to start pushing the graphics industry to come up with something better. AMD has really been stagnate in coming up with competitive products and NVIDIA is just sitting with their 8 series laughing all the way to the bank making record profits.

ohh yeah and that means that the coding couldnīt be done bad per automatic? I mean you are 100% sure Crytek couldnīt have done anything wrong with the game? Totally flawless guys?......i donīt know about that i mean everyone ca do mistakes.
Well if that is the fact then Crytek is one of few very very good game devs.
