Crysis....why all the hype......

Well does Halo 3 get its own section for discussion here at nvnews?


Maybe sites have dedicated sections for Halo 3; I just have never noticed any PC game that has been hyped up as much as Crysis.

I'm not saying it's bad at all, it's awesome and has amazing graphics, I'm just saying I don't think it's as worthy of all the hype, no game or anything on the face of the planet is worthy of that much hype.

There was sooo much media on Crysis before launch it was unbelievable.

No other game has flooded the internet quite as much IMO. I felt like I was playing it for a second or 3rd time when it was my first time playing through it.

When you have the net flooded with that much info, screens, movies, adds previews, betas, and separate discussion sections it's bound to be spoiled for ya. Oh well hype away..

I have to disagree. The hype it received was only for its graphics. And I recall always hearing people on forums and on some previews saying that the game itself just didn't look interesting and they expected the gameplay to be bland. I heard this almost all the time. So expectations were quite low. However, it turns out the graphics met its expectations and gameplay far exceeded it.

It didn't occur to you that people don't want to spoil all of the plot for other people? And I thought the indoor environments and cutscenes on the hangar level was pretty darn impressive.

I think Crysis is a solid, enjoyable experience. Definitely the most graphically stunning game to date and Crytek are to be commended for pushing the boundaries.

But reading some of the comments here.. 10/10? Best game ever? Oh please.

FYI, the first level is beautiful, and it's easily accessible because it's the level in the demo as well, which means anyone can play it.

I'm on my second time through this great game. Do you know the last game I played through twice? Hell, I can't even think of a game I played through twice other than mike tysons punch out back in the day. :p

It's because there's so much you can do. You can be a renegade and blast everyone in your path, you can sneak around undetected and bash people with the butt of your gun, or you can fool with the AI and throw random things at them for 10 different directions... This game is so versitile that it's sickening.

I can understand a 2nd or 3rd play through just to see what the game is capable of. :D

I aint the one throwing insults around just because someone has a different opinion, my argument has always been that Crysis has nothing more to offer after the first couple of glorious levels. For stating that i get abuse from you and all the other Crysis posse because i have a different opinion.

My opinion is just that, i ask other people on why they think Crysis is sooooo great and if in there opinion does it live upto the hype surrounding it. All i get is replys stating "but the graphics, but the graphics, but the graphics" I dont give a toss on wether a game has the best graphics in the world or not, i want the gameplay to go with it and so far there has not been one person on this forum that can explain why we will be playing Crysis 12 months from now, except again...because the graphics will be better.

I played Crysis through on high settings and it performed very well on my machine, it's performance has never been an issue for me, although if it was better optimised at high settings for todays machines it wouldnt hurt.

And yes the debate has become a playground argument because some people just cannot be civil. I won't bother posting in the Crysis sub-forum anymore as the Crysis posse only want to hear positive feedback and anything other than that gets branded a forum troll.
