View Full Version : Blu-Ray Disc Association sinks to new low with childish YouTube attack ads!
Just when you though you've seen it all, it has been confirmed that the Blu-Ray Disc Association has launched (un)professional viral attack ads against HD DVD on YouTube:

Desperation has set in, perhaps, with no answer to the $199 HD-A3?
They looked pretty professionally done.. and how are they viral? I mean it's not like they tried to make it look like they were just bluray enthusiasts making videos and gosh, look at the grassroots effort by our fans or something.
They're obviously made professionally, have the animated bluray logo.. they're advertisements for the format.
Boohoo.

Well, it's [BD] an inferior format in just about every aspect, so if they actually told the truth in their commercials the thing wouldn't sell.
Doesn't really surprise me. BD certainly won't sell due to the quality/value of the product, might as well try to brain wash morons who aren't literate enough to read reviews.

[HD]: We have a $199 HD player.
[BD]: lol Oh yeah? Check out this 1337 v1d30 where this guy puts his HD-DVD player in the junk closet. loLZ!!! U don't standa chance!

[former CEO of BD] - would you like fries with that?

Makes sense... I mean... DVDs aren't selling anymore and HD-DVD has clearly become the new format of choice.

I favor neither format, and I think these commercials are dumb.
These remind me of those cable vs satellite commercials where cable tries to poke fun of satellite even though satellite has been taking their customers left and right over the last few years.
BTW what happened to VHS in that second one? They skipped it.

The junk closet was actually funny when they decided to put a Sony Betamax in there.

Never heard of "BR" or "HD-DVD"
It is amazing how many little retards there who have no clue about either format yet somehow have a favorite because their little gaming console has it.
Why do those that favor HD DVD get so anal? Its either you're 1337 or know nothing about the format so you "suck-arz" and the PS3 you play your "BluRayaz" on. We need both formats to fail so this **** can be over.:o
Just priceless!!!!!

Sony CEO Howard Stringer isn’t one for saying crazy things but his rather straight-shooting comments regarding his own products seem to be stirring up just as much controversy. This time around Mr. Stringer’s comments that Blu-ray players won’t sink much below $400 and the PS3’s “momentum” is the same as the PS2 has fans and detractors alike in a buzz.
"It isn't the cheaper format, but it is the better format," Stringer said. He added that while HD DVD might have made inroads with price cuts on both hardware and software, Blu-ray hardware prices probably won't sink much below $400.

DVD's aren't selling anymore? LOL! Wow . . . that's hilarious.
I sold my HD-DVD player last year just because adopting to a new format like that is a little crazy, especially since both formats are still kicking today. I'm waiting it out for another year or two to buy another HD format player, therefore I'm still buying DVDs. Maybe I'm the only one.
I wanna say that HD-DVD will win, but Blu-Ray has the better library of movies hands down. I wish they would just make ONE FREAKIN FORMAT!!!! Plus if BR wins, there will hopefully be a standalone player for <$200. Electronic Express had the Sony BR player for $199 yesterday.

PeterJensen is a PS3 kiddie, so naturally he is going to make retarded statements concerning blu-ray (Sony has trained him well).
I still can't decide format.. it's killing me
Both sides have good sales numbers and arguments on their side. I wish I could timetravel then go back :(

HD-DVD man, its a done deal. BR players will not go below 400.00 and HD-DVD players are 99.00 to 199.00. Once there is enough HD-DVD players on the market I think some movie developers will sell to both crowds or just move over, IF they feel they are loosing sales because of it. Hell read the post I made from sony's CEO it pretty much says it all.

It's just alarming to me that Blockbuster in Denmark is selling Blueray exclusively in their store (although both HD DVD and Bluray in their online store) and one of the biggest electronic chains in DK, Fona, is currently selling Bluray only as well. Also another big movie/music chain in Denmark, Axel Music, is reporting 80/20% sales on bluray/hd dvd relatively in their online shop. I know that in the long run the decisive battle will be fought in the US, but it's just a bit counter intuitive for me to go against the stream like that. Anyway I've read quite a bit about both HD DVD and Bluray in the past couple of days and while I have no emotional attachment towards either format, I must say that I favor HD DVD, not least because of the exclusive release of Heroes Season 1. I want to buy the high acclaimed BBC documentary "Planet Earth" for my dad as well, but it's both on Bluray and HD DVD, and I wouldn't want to cause him to buy the losing format whatever that'd be =(
