Encode it with Divx or Xvid and if that doesn't reduce the filesize enough you have to split it up. There are several free avi or mpeg split programs on the internet and here is one:

Now you tell me to play a game like TF2 or Call of Duty 4 at 15-20 fps, I'll laugh in your face.

That would be a horrible experience just as playing Crysis at 15-20fps would also be a horrible experience. I understand that crysis is smoother than most other games at lower fps but Im sorry, I have to draw the line somewhere and the minimum is 30fps for me in crysis. I just do not understand how you guys are cool with 15-20fps in a first person shooter but if it doesnt bother you then more power to ya.

I was actually able to play the demo very well on my rig at 1680X1050 using Vista 64 with the DX9 path with most options on high and a few on very high with the ini tweaks. Minimum fps for me was 32 and that was during heavy firefights and when wondering around in the jungle it was anywhere from 40 to as high as 50fps.

This was with no aa or af though but the game really doesnt need it to great.

For me Crysis is smooth in the 25FPS range, less then 20 it is choppy for me. DX10 stalls out or crashes, DX9 is fine. Amazing graphics, wish I could use AA, using AA tanks the game to a slide show. Still getting high 20's at 1920x1200 with everything on high except shadows and post processing makes the game fun and very impressive.

Played FarCry 3 times, once on 9700Pro, once on 6800GT and once on my GTX. Each time I could up the graphics, with GTX it was 1920x1200, everything maxed, 16x AA 16xAF and it was beautiful. Crysis blows Farcry out of the water with my current settings. Next generation I will play again and probably after that. So very much agreed, this game will last awhile and get played a number of times.

I'm going to throw this game out there, and you can agree with me or not on this.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for N64. The original game ran at 20 fps constantly on the N64. No one ever complained, moaned, or groaned about that... In fact, there are still people in this world that will swear up and down that it is the most brilliant action/puzzle game of all time.

So why is Crysis any different in this situation? The game is flatout brilliant in just about every aspect except for high performance on new hardware... so what? The debate is over whether 20 fps is an acceptable frame rate for a first person shooter. I think that in this case, it is acceptable. The high action sequences are sparse, and most of this game takes on a "Splinter Cell" approach to achieving mission objectives.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. Crysis is a rare exception to the "minimum 30 fps" rule because the gameplay is so unique. On most games, if the framerate were around 20 fps, I would probably be saving up money to buy new hardware so I wouldn't have to experience that anymore. In this case, though, I think 20 fps is an acceptable performance threshold for Crysis.

that will never happen
They´ll fade after a while, and resurface to argue how much better Vista is then the new OS when its released.
They did in the win98 -> XP transition.

Sorry mate. We will just have to agree to disagree on this one.

I'm with MadPistol on this one. I'm running it at 1920x1200 with the DX9 tweaks to enable DX features and stuff. It runs at about 23 - 30 fps and it's 100% playable. You don't notice the low framerate at all. Normally I can't stand anything below ~40 fps but Crysis is an exception. I only notice the low frame rate when it drops below 20fps. At first I was trying to get the FPS over 30 to make it playable but then I realized it didn't need to be that high for it to be completely playable.

Hence, in TES4, you *do not* have every in-game options maxed. If you literally ran the game at the highest settings possible (2560x1600, 16xQ AA, 16xAF, GCAA, TMSAA, and 100% all in-game options at their absolute highest settings) it will tank even the fastest of today's computers.

As for your rig, something is wrong. I can play Crysis at 1280x800 (my monitors native res is 1680x1050, but if I keep to the 16:10 aspect ratio lower resolutions look fine) with 4xAA, 16xAF, and all in-game options set to "High" and it never dips below 20fps. It remains *very* playable. So something is definitely wrong with your setup...

Hmmm...tell me, are you always play games while you are online? (EX: keep msn running, downloading files ), if yes, do you keep your anti-virus software running? (like firewall, backdoor block, etc....)
I ask this question because I'm doing those things while I'm playing games, don't know if it will affect my performance badly.

If you're running a Dual or Quad Core processor (like a Core 2 or Phenom), you probably won't even notice the extra programs running in the background.

so how come it was a slide show on my system even at LOw settings at 800X600 res during fire fights?

Haha... funny that you mention that.

I'm about 4 levels into the game now, and the game is starting to take its toll on my lowly P4. During heavy firefights, the framerate does fall into the single digits. However, I've figured out that even though the processor can't keep up, the ram can. Even though it's slowed down to as low as 5 fps, the framerate is still consistant (no lagging frames or such...)

As such, I must concede that 5 fps is wayyyy below the playable range for any game. Soooo the game is playable to an extent on the minimum spec system. :(

I'm going to guess "Operating System - Windows Vista Ultimate (Retail)" is the culprit. ;)

It ran fine on low/medium settings on my friend's computer with only a 6800 GT, a P4, and 1 GB of ram.

No its not unless he just doesnt have all the updates and hotfixes installed. I have played the crysis demo back to back under both XP and Vista 64 using the dX9 path. The difference in the FPS was 1-2frames which swung in either direction depending on the situation.

Maybe I need some hotfixes because Crysis runs like crap in Vista for me and runs awesome in XP. It hiccups and hitches in Vista so bad. The framerate seems to be the same overall when it's not stuttering, but when there's these pauses it drags them down. It runs awesome on XP though. There's something up IMO. Most other games for me run just the same in Vista, but this one seems to be the exception for me.

Also I do only have 2 GB. But it doesn't seem to be maxing out my ram so I dunno.

It's a well known fact that Vista eats up ram. 4GB is recommended for Vista. Even if it doesn't look like the ram is being maxed out, you probably want to get it so you'll have more resources on tap.

Madpistol is correct. This is why I love Vista 64 because it can utilize all 4gbs of ram. No hitches in crysis here at all.
