image fill screen....??

:headexplode: When I play a game I only get it filling three quarters of the screen.Any other time the image fills the entire screen.This is happening on both games I am playing at the moment. I've tried different resolutions, but this hasn't made any diffference. any help gratefully appreciated.

mobo : ASUS BLITZ EXTREME
cpu : INTEL CORE 2 QUAD 6700 2.66 GHZ.8 mb. cache
vid : ALBATRON 8800 gtx 768MB/ 384 BIT.
psu : THERMALTAKE 750 watts.
ram : 2 gb. corsair XMS3 1333MHZ DDR3.
dvd : LiteON 48x
case : COOLMASTER CMSTACKER 830 --2 x fans.

Some games, like Crysis, have a box where you have to check "full screen." (LEE63)
