This Half-Life 2 mod showed a lot of promise in Beta 1. Judging by the changes list, they have fixed many of the more serious problems with the first beta.

I'm still downloading it right now (822Mb :o ) but I'll give it a try tomorrow.

Just played it.

Its not bad.

Not a whole lot better than it was before though. Its still pretty rough around the edges.

Just played some more...

It still has a lot of potential, but its just clunky.

Lots of small irritating aspects. For example, if you touch any movement keys while prone, you can't aim at all, even when you're already looking down your sights. You can't lean while prone either. So basically, if you're trying to out shoot someone who is already in place and watching your position, and you are prone, behind cover, you will lose, because when you move, you won't be able to aim.

The sprinting is also pretty crappy feeling. It feels more like you're driving a dump truck than running on foot. You can't look down a road while running across, and turning while sprinting is extremely slow.

Some maps also seem a bit unbalanced toward the US side. The game wins\losses reflect that too. I just left a game where the US team was winning 270 to 120. And that's rounds won...

somewhat. the main difference is it tries to focus on realism but gets too realistic/annoying

I have to agree.

They take some things farther than they should (overly restrictive movement), while other things are completely absent.

This is one game that really needs to drop the whole "hit points = 0, now you're dead" thing.

I'd like to see a system where you are wounded and fall to the ground, able to shoot and possibly crawl (with hampered movement and aiming) until you are either shot again, bleed to death or are "fixed" by a medic. It'd also need much more accurate location based damage. I've shot people in the head twice with a .308 ( saw the red puffs), only to have them kill me with a single round from an AK-47. If head shots don't kill you, nothing should.

It just feels like some things are missing currently. They have a good base for a realistic war game, but its just not there yet...

Can you blow yourself up? It can't be called 'Insurgency' if you can't.

There are some new screens from Nuclear Dawn team as well. Hopefully, that mod delivers more.
