Reasons? You honestly think that this happened without reason?

1) Saddam Hussein is a known sponsor of terrorists (look at the millions he sent to families of SplodeyDopes in "Palestine").

2) They never provided the UN with evidence that they destroyed their weapons.

3) Intelligence indicated (and yes, it might have been wrong, but it's still a judgment call) that they were working on nukes and bio/chem weapons.

4) The Baathists were well known for being torturers, oppressors and killers. Well, except for CNN. ;)

And now I'm sitting here wondering why I bothered responding to this....

Cheers,
JND

Here's what we learned from the war, written by former Secretary of Defense James Schlesinger in the Wall Street Journal:

The war has most dramatically conveyed the following realities:

1.) The U.S. is a very powerful country.

2.) It is ill-advised to arouse this nation by attacking or repeatedly provoking it--or by providing support to terrorism; and

3.) Regularly to do so means a price will likely be paid. Far less credence will now be placed in the preachments of Osama bin Laden regarding America's weakness, its unwillingness to accept burdens, and the ease of damaging its vulnerable economy, etc.
That's just the reality. Deal with it. ;) :p

And BTW, have you seen the satellite images of Baghdad? We picked our targets, and we wiped 'em out. It wasn't indiscriminate carpet bombing. It was targeted, directed attacks. And it worked.

Cheers,
JND

Kain is a anti-semite and a plain ole' bigot. You do nothing here but reduce the intelligence quotient of this forum. Your type of hatred towards the west and Isreal is the exact reason why the middle east is stuck in the middle ages. I frankly am sick of your whinning. I AM directly flaming you. I really wish you would leave this forum. Go fix your dictatoryship before you beotch about others.

Mods you can delete this flame or punish me. I just wanted it public that I for one will not stand for this type of bigotry.

well there was some carpet bombing :)

but you are correct on the whole... in terms of what was said...

btw kain... to go in and take out saddam... to assasinate him would have been a more cowardly act IMO...

and it would not have truly shaken the grip his family or the Ba'ath part had on the country...

in order to remove them there were 2 options... exile.. which they refused... and which would have been the thing to do... or war...

these were the ONLY options left after we had placed our troops on alert... the choice left to us was taken... even with international and domestic voices which called for an alternate solution...

using aerial strikes to soften up the opposing force before sending in your troops is actually a very smart thing to do... it reduces casualties on your own part while inflicting severe damage on the other... think about it...

btw... hitler (or rather his generals) was one of the best exponents of it... using his 'blitzkreig' very effectively in russia... unfortunately for saddam... he is not a very good military tactician... case in point... iran... and his treatment of his generals...

imagine if you run an army corps... would you rather use the arms @ your disposal to inflict max damage while suffering minimum casualties... or would you rather go in guns blazing and possibly suffer far greater casualties ?

the pragmatic solution is the one that was employed in the war...

Kain, you couldn't be more wrong. Your implication that Israel somehow has influence over what is shown on American TV is laughable. Even the American government can't control the American media. Just look at all the American politicians, even presidents, who have been ruined by scandals reported by the US media. We have freedom of the press in this country.

Arab countries always label American and Israel collectively as "zionists" and "crusaders", like we are the same country or something. Most Americans have very little interest or care in Israel. Most Americans couldn't even point to Israel on a map. American trade and business interests in Israel are mediocre at best. Israel isn't that big of a deal to Americans. The only time we care is when we hear another sad story of the "poor, victimized" Palestinians blowing up another Israeli school bus.

Kain if you are wondering what happened to your posts look no further. You have being abusive towards everyone here spewing nationalist and abusive trash towards everyone here. Frankly I have had enough of your lack of respect, as such I've removed all your trash from this thread. Take this as a warning and get in line.

SNL was never funny. It was always one or two skits that keep it going. :D *sniff* I miss Billy, Joe, Eddy, Julia, Martin and the others I can't remember from the 80's SNL.

Well, that'd be because we've had CNN giving us all the Iraqi propaganda for the past decade.

:D :p ;)
