Okay I finally got Crysis to run in directx 9 under Windows Vista x64 I created a short cut icon on the desktop and made "G:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin64\Crysis.exe" -dx9 so the game could run under directx 9 I also downloaded Gaco's system.cfg file which I'm currently using the following layout on...

Granted I've never had to do any of this stuff just to play a game but I don't shy away from learning something new that's tech savy knowledge is power! I guess the only other questions I have are as follows....
Is there anyway to make the light shine threw the trees and make the water look more real? I'm not seeing the sun ray effects or water effects. I'm also not seeing the rocks look textured unless I've done something wrong with the settings other then what I was directed to do.

Actually Gaco's 1.1 config should have most of the "very high" effects like the sun/moon light rays which only appear when a structure or tree is in the same direction with the sun/moon and the "very high" water effects are in it as well.

The easiest way to test it out is to just start it in DX10 with all settings on "very high" and compare it and if you have done it right you should see very little difference other than the framerate that is.

Responsible for DX10 "veryhigh" water waves:
e_water_ocean_fft = 1
e_water_tesselation_amount = 10

Responsible for sunrays visible once objects are in the line towards the sun:
r_sunshafts = 1

By the way, once you start the game in 64-bit, you don't need this line:
r_TexturesStreaming=0

Texture streaming is disabled by default once the game is launched in 64-bit. :)

Where can I redown Gaco's 1.1 config please? I need to use those again!!!! :) Also when ever I run the game at 1920x1200 I get a widescreen black bar on the top and bottom of the screen anyway to get rid of that?

Gaco's 1.01 config:

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=1452125&postcount=60

If you mean black bars on top and bottom during the cutscenes, thats normal and they can't be removed but the actual gameplay shouldn't have any black bars at 1920x1200 because that 16:10 resolution is natively supported.

Strange stuff, try to check who does the scaling (the display, the card, or centered etc.) in the Nvidia driver and default should be "display" IIRC. You can also force a resolution by adding this to your shortcut:

Crysis.exe +r_Width=1920 +r_Height=1200

Okay, the last thing I need to know before moving on is how should I setup the graphic settings? I'll stay at 1920 X 1200 with 0AA But if you know of the settings for medium or high or higher let me know which has been the best known settings so far everyone with a high-end system like mine.

Do you have a preferred listing of those settings please? I want to play tonight so please reply back a/sap cause this is going to be cool once you give me the heads up on the graphic settings under advanced options...thank you!

I just finished first mission and uninstalled the game. I don't want to be a beta tester for crappy coded game. No thanks.
Let's go back to Barker's Jericho...

ewww, that would one of the worst games this year. I was hoping for Undying 2, it was terrible imo.

Then you didn't play through it. There was some big bugs later on. I had to reinstall the entire game at one point just to move on.

I had no bugs (except poor performance) in the game. I have beaten it as well. Great game.

Of course I played through it on Delta and a total of 18h. I don't quicksave/load though and friends told me about some AI/physics related bugs due to that one. I know many people complained about bugs at the carrier level but sorry again, I haven't experienced a single bug there other than a possible memory leak after the long cinematic before the first big fight on the landing deck. A restart solved that one and performance was as good as it was before.

I'm playing it again on Vista and so far it's as stable/bugfree as in XP but I definitely need to get another 2GB because system ram is getting low there.

Thank you for this 1.01 Retail Config. Thank you, thank you, thank you. No more crashes, no lags, no slugish performance, SLI works great and it looks as good as DX10.0 :D
Whoever found this out, dude you're a genius...you should be hired.
