Okay, new system will be ready for build in January when I return. We will be working on a WC system symilar to the same setup I had last year. Parts now include:

P5B Deluxe
Q6600 G0
EVGA 8800GTX

Normal all crap. All in the same P180 case from last year. I have added a larger rez and a Thermochill P120.3.

Point is, I am moving to Vista (not hear for the arguement so dont go there, k?) and want 4GB of memory (2x2MB).

I plan on OCing the G0 to 3.6 if I am lucky, but will take 3.0. Either way, the memory does not have to keep speed for me. I am more than happy to use deviders to keep everything kosher. I am long been a Corsair customer and would not mind staying with them, however if I can get another brand that will give me a little more headroom in trying to the keep the mem:FSB ratio as percribed as I head to 3.6, all the better.

SO, any suggestions on makers and speed? Please keep in mind this is going to be a low air flow case so mem temp may be an issue. While I am not made of money, I don't mind spending 15% more for quality.

Lets hear it.

2GB sticks.. arnt those considered high density IC's? Why is everyone going for 2GB sticks now a days?

The only company that even dares to take the risk of such a product is Geil and they sell for $224 for the 4GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820144115

I don't recommend DDR2 6400 since the extra bandwidth of DDR2 8500 is significant in multitasking, and video encoding along with unzipping large file ect. I actually went from 800 to 1066 and my PCmark05 score went up 2K points just from the extra bandwidth! :D If you do decided to settle for 1GB sticks then OCZ should be your first stop for there D9'sand great heat spreaders followed by Corsair which uses the same D9's

There are no dividers on core 2 systems. :(

Still, PC2-6400 is dirt cheap and will get you to 3.6. Luckily the Q6600 has a high multiplier.

You should be able to grab 4Gb of DDR2-800 for under $100 if you settle for 4x1Gb.

EDIT: Here you go:

Buy two of those. Unless you think you'll need more than 4Gb before you upgrade your system again, 4x1Gb will be fine.

I'm running 4x1Gb of 1066 (my CPU has a lower multi so I need faster ram) and its working perfectly.

What huh.. No dividers?!?!? Sure there is they use ratios don't they? Or straps. I know P35 has to use some thing!

I highly recommend G.Skill PC8000 2x2GB, on the market there is very few 1000MHz memory modules, and i got my dual channel memory running at 1066MHz with no effort at all, only running 2.0v also :) I was a little put off as people say that 2GB sticks can't overclock at all but these overclocked far better then i could of hoped. Saw people with the same memory top out at 1040MHz with higher voltage. Considering my Corsair Dominator PC6400C4 wouldn't even do 833MHz with C5 timings!! Can't beilive that they only cost 110!!

Had OCZ PC6400 Gold 2x2GB they did 900MHz at 2.1v but they got alot hotter and was only good for windows stability, i am going to run memtest and see if i get an errors with these.

Noticed that link for G.Skill PC8500 i would recommend them if they are in your price bracket, can't see them on their site however. Was quite lucky myself as in the UK G.Skill is hard to come by.

The minimum ratio you can use is 1:1.

Go check your BIOS. You can't set your ram any lower than your FSB.

Theres still dividers just not in the direction some might want to go :D Like I said DDR2 8500 (1066) FTW

What you don't have 5:4 drivers or 2:1 anything?
