yep can you believe that? What a POS!!! :( lol no actually if you seen my PC I have a 120mm fan held onto a 120 ultra with rubber bands and they broke while supreme comander was running!I was in the shower and well. It crashed my game!!!! :headexplode: Yep it took a whooping 75C to kill it! Even without the fan it idled then at 61C on the hottest core for 15 mins.

Coretemps were 75\70\67\69 :o And to think shes still in one piece

yea.Highest she was ever at was 62C until now :( I cant believe that a 120 ultra fan less kept a 3.2GHz quad cool at 60c for 15 mins  If it wernt for this thermalright I would of fried my baby

thats pretty neat, I remember when i was first getting into water cooling..I overclocked my e6700 to 3400 mhz.. for some reason that I can't remember I took the 120mm fan off my MCR120 rad(I think it may have been Roadhog who told me to do this) and it kept decent temps for about 40 minutes :D

If the 75C was the actual core temp then you shouldn't be worried at all. Intel uses case temperature in the CPU specification, so the Q6600 G0's 71C thermal spec is equivalent to 86C (+-3) core temps.

I hate Thermalright's fan retention clips as much as everyone but rubber bands is just extreme. :D

I had to use duct tape to secure the stock Slot A Thunderbird cooler.

Are we going back in-time. AMD's processors and Intels for sometime USE to have an auto shut down... Is that feature now gone?

I use a small single wire and then twist it to tight and then I solder it so it does'nt come lose, because them wire things they give you are not worth a shiit.

Use zip ties on that thing. You can get a whole pack at Radio Shack for a couple dollars.

yeah i said use cable ties earlier

put them through the screw holes on the fan and out the back of the heatsink and put another tie on the end of the tie going through the fan and heat sink

Lawl thats nothing dude, I have had my Q6600 up to 85c before on all 4 cores when doing some extreme vcore testing in the past. Of course I didnt leave it like that for more than 2 minutes.

Zip ties FTW !!

My quad loads @ 73c on the hottest core (core3) and never crashes or locks up.And my case has terrible air flow. And a few hot Raptor X's to steam things up even more.

What the F*#& do you have insulation on the inside of your case? It might keep the noise down but it also traps the heat.... lol.

Yeah, as long as your Tcase temp (the one displayed by the BIOS) stayed below 71C you wouold be fine.
