the weather and vegetation system looks more "developed" than crysis, but it will amount to naught if the gameplay is trash. This things are neat though.

What's the point of growing vegetation? It takes years for a tree to grow like that. Even if your game was supposed to take place over multiple years it would make more sense to have multiple stages of tree growth, not dynamic growth. You can't see plants grow in realtime, why waste CPU cycles trying to replicate dynamic growth?

If you have a weather system that is based on gameplay (you play crappy it rains, you play good and the sun starts to shine) why not have growing vegetation? One stupid feature would feel alone without a second stupid feature. :lol:

This sort of thing (technology if you want to call it that) would be very cool for:

1). Revisiting an area after a really long time. Like if you get to a certain place in the game and have it fast forward years for some reason.

2). Time Travel aspect in a game

3). Some sort of weapon/ability/spell that speeds up time or makes time go in reverse.

Since there is a variable specifically for governing the speed at which vegetation grows in the game/engine, there must be some reason for it.

The thing that I would like to see is a MMORPG use an engine with these features. Imagine a game with a persistent world with terrain that you could destroy and it would stay that way, but after enough time it would grow back. Nature could reclaim cities if they weren't properly maintained. Players could create paths from place to place just by traveling from point A to point B frequently, but it would fade away due to regrowth if the path wasn't used for long enough. Some sort of Druid class could make things grow faster as part of their powers.

Crainger says "stupid features." I say "about time."
