What's the best DVD player software used for PC?
I want it to come with sound, and even have closed captions. I think CyberPower DVD has it. Or I may be wrong what's the name of it. But I want to know what you use to play DVD's on computer.

I use to use VLC but not I use WinDVD.
You actually need not only software but also hardware. You need a TV tuner card that has a slot which would fit the video and audio cables that can be plugged from your DVD player. They are really cheap. But if you cant find any or if they are just too expensive. Just get yourself a DVD drive for your PC. They're cheap too.

I figured it was sort of assumed that he had a DVD drive.
They've been standard for a few years now and have been in computers for around a decade.
Also, if you did attach a DVD drive through TV Tuner for some reason, you wouldn't be able to use DVD playing software. You'd just use whatever software you used to view a signal through the tuner, and you'd still need to control the dvd player with its own remote.

I use GOM for everything else. I used to use VLC, but GOM feels a little more polished and stable.

I don't think it supports as many formats as VLC, but all the main ones are there.
PowerDVD for DVD, VLC for all other video, RealAlternative for RealMedia, Winamp for all Audio
I refuse to watch anything that requires Quicktime.

Same here.
I have quicktime alternative installed. If something doesn't work with that, I click the little X and go about my business. :p
There are only so many crappy multimedia programs I can stand. If I need some special "viewer" for a site, I'll usually install it and then uninstall it after I'm done with the site. Quicktime is a pain in the ass, so I don't even bother. Same with Real Player. Though its been a very very long time since I've actually needed real player or even real alternative (which I have installed anyway).

I have Quicktime installed. Have an iPod and it comes with iTunes. I got fed up with uninstalling it every iTunes update. So I just leave it on now.
