I don't think there's a thread about his upcoming project. American McGee's Grimm. After doing a bit of looking around and it's going to be developed by McGee's yet new studio, Spicy Horse Games, and will be using Unreal Engine 3 and will be 24-part episodic game series based upon Grimm's Fairy Tales. Grimm will be warped fairy-tale style like Alice. It'll be on Gametap (just like Sam and Max) however McGee said once they have done few episodes, they may consider alternative format (Xbox Live was mentioned) so maybe we'll see completed set of Grimm on PC in the future. Personally, I'm really excited.

Here's his blog, so you can check some artworks and what he has to say also there's an interview on Grimm at Gamespot.uk. He mentioned about Oz (sadly it's all gone) also a bit on live-action of Alice.

I love anything McGee.

Scrapland, Bad Day LA, Alice... All incredibly fun and characteristically unique games that I had nothing short of a ball playing through (yes, even Bad Day LA :P ).

Can't wait for it, the more the better.

at least you admit it

don't you see the problem with episodic games, especially 24 part ones

basically you'll need a subscription, if you jump into the series half way through you're ****ed and you're stuck waiting years for new content. What if all the sudden Spicy Horse goes belly up and bam thats it, no conclusion, then what?

****ing Wolf Quest n00b.

The concept of episodic games is great.....but they never work...(Sam and Max is an exception). I mean...weren't we told that HL2:EP2 was going to come out like a year ago? I remember buying EP1 thinking this was a great idea. $20 for an episode, a few episodes in a year. Great!! Unfortunately that didn't work.

24 episodes is WAY too many....

Wait, you're forgetting who is developing the HL2 episodes. That's Valve. ****ing Val-I'malwayslate-ve. The company 40% of its profits probably goes in pies and muffins and donuts for that huge mass-o-fat that is Gabe Newell to eat. C'mon.

Oh, and, by the way, $20 for a 4 hrs gameplay episode are too much. $10-$13 would be more like it.

24 episodes is WAY too many....

With this, I can agree. ;)

What isn't wrong with episodic gaming? With the exception of Sam and Max, every single episodic game has been overpriced, ridiculously delayed, or simply cancelled.

I'll be looking forward to this anyway. As I recently posted in the 5 top games of all time thread, Alice is right up there with the best. If this is even half as good it'll be worth a play.

each episode will be based on one of fairy tales, not as entire game like half-life where story ends and contiunes on next episode that we have to wait for a year or so.

i think they said it's going to be 30 mins to a hour long and will be released rather quickly like, maybe 2 episodes per month? just don't rule that out yet until we get more information. i pay gametap like $10 per month to have unlimited access to everything. imo, it's not a bad deal.

An update on the upcoming episodic title American McGee's Grimm reveals dates for episodes, but still no word on pricing.

GameTap, who will offer the weekly serial game on its PC games-on-demand service, has released dates for the first few episodes of the 24-game series, each centered on a particular Grimm fairy tale.

July 31: A Boy Learns What Fear Is
August 7: Little Red Riding Hood
August 14: The Fisherman and His Wife
August 21: Puss in Boots
August 28: The Girl Without Hands
September 4: Godfather Death
September 11: The Devil and His Three Golden Hairs
September 18: Beauty and the Beast

The cartoony platformer is currently a GameTap exclusive, but the game's creator, American McGee, has said he would also like to see an eventual XBLA release, as well as a retail version.

Even though the series launches this month, the price of each episode has yet to be announced. I think it's pricing that will really make or break the series, and it will be interesting to see how they go about pricing what has been described as 30-minute episodes.

Sounds awesome. The date for first episode is July 31. I can't wait. Also Volume 2 and Volume 3 are planned in 2009.

30 minute episodes?

Meh...

That's too short IMO. I'm all for episodic games but that's barely long enough to even get mildly interested in the game.

Most demos have more than 30 minutes of gameplay.

At least they are free for first 24 hours... and I doubt each episode shouldn't be $10 a pop, probably $5. But as GameTap Gold member, I'm getting all of them for free. :D $10 per month for all access to games for free.
