Bahahaha, my friend brought in a CD today because she needed to finish typing a paper.
All that was on the CD was a SINGLE WORD DOCUMENT!
For argument's sake, she could have fit well over 30,000 of them on that CD. :D

I've always assumed that you couldn't do multisession discs with a CDR...am I wrong?

For the small stuff I'm a big fan of those USB key's. Great for everything!

you are correct, you can do multisession and fill up the disc later :)

If it was multisession...that'd be allright. But was it a rewriteable any chance?
You can have multisessions on both CDR-CDRW's only if you choose not to close the session during the first burn.
DAO->leave session open

I can't believe I never thought of that.
It was a CDR, but I'd put money on the fact that she doesn't know what finalizing was or how to enable it.

50 1.44 meg disks = $11
50 cdr 700 meg disks = $11
50 cdr 700 meg disks = $20
price per meg cdr and cdrw are way better than floppy
and any cdr and be left open for another session - almost all cdrom drives can read a multy session

But it's just not practical. I mean come on, start > run > A: copy and paste. Or open Nero, make new data cd, drag, burn, remember not to finalize, etc.

Well if you have a specially set up automated system over a network with a bot that inserts, takes out cds and the like it would be easier (not quicker). It's more for lazy people.
You just have to right click and send it to the automated bot. That's it. The bot will do everything and even set the cd down next to you.
Talk about 200 years into the future.
Of course TV stations work like that nowadays.

He said exactly the opposite. ¬_¬ :p

Is there something wrong in those lines?? ;)
Yes, although if a 3½ floppy would cost 2x the price of a CD, anyone would prefer to buy a floppy to save a 1Mb .doc than burning a 700 Mb CD for 1 Mb... It's like the wasted space is more worth than the money the disk costs!

 Reminds me of the ol' PKZip days where I kept games (around 10 MBs typically) in a bunch of pkzipped disks. Had a whole case of 'em.
