That's a shame. I'm not sure if it's anywhere else. I'll have a look.
Must have taken days to do.

What about http://keepvid.com/ ? Can you enter the url there and download the video to your PC as a .flv file?

Dang! There is no way that can be real... If that is real, the Cryengine 2 is 10 times as efficient as the Source Engine. Doing that with those boxes in real time is just unbelievable. :super:
That is not in realtime :) Still impressive though.

Thats the map and no it's not realtime but when I tried it it was more 1 frame per second instead of the 8 seconds per frame like the guy that made the video. It maxed out my CPU to 100%, nekrosoft13s Quadcore was at 75-85% but still a little too slow. :)
Here is the thread of the guy that made the youtube clip:

WOW! That's incredible! So this sys_physics 0 or 1....what exactly does it do? He says that setting to to 0 will decrease framerate a whole bunch....but with it at 1 the framerate is crap because the CPU is bogged down with physics. Hmm, I guess maybe it give physics a priority or something? That's pretty cool.

sys_physics_cpu 1 - thats the default setting, unsyncs physics from the GPU framerate. It's better to have physical objects to get slowed down instead of graphics and physics during actual gameplay.
sys_physics_cpu 0 - this one syncs physics with the gpu and makes the recording possible
fixed_time_step xx - this cvar changes the general "speed" of the game, you can play it slowmo or much higher speed than normal. It's pretty funny to use this one in SP. :) Slowmo value is something like 0.01 and speed up something like 0.09.
Here in this thread you can read in detail what the guy did:

Console cvars that he used:
con_restricted 0 (enables advanced cvars)
map xyz (loads the physics map)
sys_physics_CPU 0
fixed_time_step 0.033333
e_particles 0 (all those particles when a box would collide with something killed my GPU)
r_motionblur 4 (need the very high tweak if on DX9)
r_useEdgeAA 2
r_displayinfo 0 (get rid of the white text when in devmode/sandbox)
cl_hud 0
capture_frames 1 (to take a screenshot at every frame so you can add them all together to make a smooth motioned video).
I ran this for the hell of it :D Check the CPU usage, it was running really slow... maybe 3-4fps.

Thanks! Actually 3-4 fps is a nice improvement from the 1fps (or less) with my CPU. :) (It took like 10 minutes until all "boxes" fell to the ground). Your CPU usage does show that there is something like a "cap" for CPU cycles used by physics in the engine.

video possible in realtime in maybe 5 years?
That's the best physics demo I ever seen by a long shot. Amazing.

Wow that is damned cool.
I won't be downloading it and trying it myself though.
It will make me buy a 45nm quad and overclock it to 5Ghz. :p
EDIT: There are a lot of good Crysis vids on youtube. This one is freaking hilarious! :rofl

Oh I'd say less than that. CPU are progressing very fast ATM. Think where we were 2 years ago at look where we are now. I'd say 2010 ish and we'll be seeing things like that in real-time. What a great time to be in to gaming :D
That stuff is available now if Nvidia/ATI would go ahead with their hardware physics.
The 8-series from Nvidia has builit in capability of hardware physics, but for some reason hasn't really gone through with it as of yet. ;)

Why are you guys saying its not in realtime? Then if its not what is it? can someone explain please?
If you read his preface on Youtube to the video, he made a setting, where the game runs at the same speed at 30fps, however, he sets the settings so the game will only keep everything at pace, so instead of the game hitting 5-15 frames per second, it slows down the player/movement to keep it in pace with the speed of 30fps, so in a sense, it's almost like software rendering. :)
I guess this is how Crytek could make "ingame" videos even on older hardware. :)

One thing to note too. In the sandbox editor, if you just have a terrain and you are walking around, you'll get over 100FPS. But the more you add in, the more it will drag your FPS down. I'm sure with all those boxes, it'll come down to a crawl lol.

Too bad it's not real time but it looks amazing!
