Dunno... how will it help out at all with the 256-bit ram bandwidth? (assuming this is real)
no heatsinks on the vrams???
It should be overclocked imo. All that ram is probably useless with the 356biy bus.

Hey that would match my Mobo :p
Nice looking card. Wonder how it will perform and what the price will be...

Why would it be that? (I assume thats a typo and you ment 256bit.)
It would help with huge texture loads to be able to store it all onboard, not sure but I can imagine Crysis at highest texture quality setting would cause some spillover on a 512mb card, and end up hitching a bit. (seing how the bleeding edge today features 768Mb/1Gb RAM)
Its tons better then the old ripoffs using budget lowlevel GPUs and slapping on a tons of cheap RAM to fool the uneducated consumer, at any rate.
Although I dont think IŽd pay alot over a 512mb version for one of these, prolly wont be THAT big a difference in most cases.

I agree with you I remember fx5200 with sh*t loads of ram, and having people buying it because they in fact didnt know better this is a little different but will still have it's short comings because of the 256bit.
It doesnt have enough 'fillrate' to really make use of it.We need a new architecture from Nvidia. And yeah,I cant imagine it being all that much
more $ given that GDDR3 is almost dirt cheap.
I would like to see these with a black PCB though, screw the green crap. The blue is nice though, but they say at the bottom of the press release it may change....
IMHO,a G92 GTS would make a better candidate for 1Gb of ram.
Well acctually its sortof a "ASUS thing" to do.
They had a PhysX board planned with 256Mb of memory instead of the standard 128, presumably to have a fictive edge towards BFG and any other makes of PhysX boards.
Then it leaked that the PPU only supports, and will only use, 128mb of the memory in anycase, and with the cat out of the bag they scrapped the 256mb model.
Btw the 8800GT has more texture fillrate then the GTS (old one atleast with 24GT/sec) and with 33.6 GT/sec its not that far away from the GTX at 36.8GT/sec.
Nice , but whats the point ?
we need a new ultra high-end not just some vram beefed up high-end

Agree, and the fact that Asus made a GT with 1gb means that they might also make a new GTS with 1gb. :)

Oh I am sure they will.Oh and jolle,I was talking abou the G92 GTS As my first post mentioned :)

Ah, didnt know what sort of texture fillrate it had.
41.6GT/sec, is that right? vs the GTs 33.6GT/sec.
That sure is a purty card!

QFT. nV disappointed me this year with their new cards. I was expecting more.

I was expecting more myself. From what I gather the high-end cards are ready and waiting but they're holding off due to a total lack of pressure from ATI. This is a sign of what we can expect if ATI don't get their act together soon, progress is going to slow. This is the reason ATI must get more competitive, performance wise. To keep things progressing.
for me its ok coz even if nvidia did launch an uber high end card, i will never afford it.
thanks to the 8800GT, i can play crysis @reasonable framerates without losing big money.

With competition from ATi i'm certain there will be even more good "bang for the buck" cards from both vendors so dont worry about that.

For high end users I can definetly see why you would be disappointed because nothing really came out except for the Ultra. As for midrange users this couldn't have been a better year for them.

That doesn't make much sense to me, and it doesn't make dollars for Nvidia.

I'm sure i've read somewhere, on this forum I think, that the cards are ready. If someone could confirm! As long as the 8 series is selling well they'll will be trying to get as much out of it as they can. They make more money from mid-range cards anyhow so why not hold off.
Gainward also have a 1GB version
