Which keyboard and mouse do you have?
Secondly, do you prefer wireless or corded keyboards and mice? The thing that worries me about wireless is the battery running out while playing a game. :p
I use the Intellimouse Explorer, the first optical mouse on the market, still going strong after all this time ;)
Im using a basic Logitech keyboard, but Ive just ordered a Logitech Elite USB, so I cant wait for that.
I myself still prefer corded mice, cordless mice just seem too heavy and mine is light and just glides, as for corded vs cordless keyboards, I dont think it makes a big difference, unless you dont like cords, but I am very good at hiding all mine ;)

Logitech Elite Keyboard and MX500 Mouse.
I wasnt really too fond of changing/charging batteries all the time, corded has never been a problem for me.

...but I'm typing this on a HP USB keyboard that I recently swapped for me old PS/2 keyboard and am really liking it!
The PS/2 on my CUSL2-C is getting a bit flaky, methinks me tugged it/pulled it in/out once too many times and it got bloody temperemental to the point that I remembered this USB one that came with a PC I picked up for a bud that he didn't need a keyboard for.
I never had a USB keyboard. New shiny is good. :)
It's actually sweet as hell! VERY solid and heavy, with a smooth and light keystroke that you can abuse the hell out of...it actually makes typing easier/more enjoyable for me. (And I tend to do a lot of it... ;) ) Heck, even my wife commented on how much she liked it and she NEVER notices upgrades unless it's on the credit card!
Me likes. The rest of my computers got PS/2 $5-10 standard keyboards with all the windows button and the "insert" key just violently ripped off 'em with gaping holes like missing teeth remaining. (Saves OODLES of problems. :) )
On mice? Intellimouse Explorer Optical 5-buttons on all, Ratpadz on Blue & Bubbles. I'm totally addicted to the combo and don't see meself changing anytime soon, the only thing I change is how I replace the worn-out feet. (I'm using the chopped up film canister method right now held on with that gloppy removable stuff used to hold up posters...it works well but they wear down after about 3-4 months of good abuse. The search continues.....)
Is it ok to pimp ratpadz here, 'cause I just gotta! The day I got my first one I ordered a second one because the wife wouldn't let me have it back. (Another example where "she noticed" It never happens in a GOOD way....)

Same here. Logitech keyboard for $15. Mouse for $30 (when I bought it earlier). Both work great. :)
By the way, (for the people who have cordless keyboards and/or mice) do you ever worry about the batteries running out while playing a game?

unless you're vamp, no. Most of us know how to recharge the batteries using the MX700 base if we have one, some poor folks however haven't perfected the art of seating the mouse on the recharging stand
*cough* vamp *cough*
I haven't had to change batteries once yet;)
What kind of batteries does it use? How long does one charge normally last?

just using the ones that came with the mouse and keyboard. A 15 min charge on the MX700 will last about a day's worth of regular use. The keyboard batteries last forever or something cuz I haven't had to recharge those in months.
If you have a rechargeable mouse, just treat it like a cell phone, leave it recharging whenever you are not using it or when you are sleeping ;)
I think they use nimhs or something like that, AA for MX700.
Thanks, so no worries while playing a game? ;)
Secondly, is there any "performance" difference between corded mice and cordless mice?

I haven't noticed a difference. At first you'll notice some added weight, but after about an hour or so you'll get used to it and like it. I can't stand my other mouses now, too light
If you don't recharge it properly there is always the possibility of the mouse dyin' on ya:D
ask around, I'm sure its happened to someone we all know:p

I have the BEST keyboard created ever. An original IBM PS/2 one (mechanical), with no annoying weird keys and fully dismountable, which is great for cleaning it up.
As for the mouse a have a plain vanilla optical mouse, cheap but functional.

You should be able to get by just fine with the standard batteries with an MX700 even if you leave your PC on 24/7. Just remember to put the mouse back into the charger when you're not using your computer.
If you are in front of your PC all day, you may want to invest in high mHA rated batteries. The ones that come with the MX700 I believe are 1700 mHA. 2100 mHA ones are available for purchase on ebay and their charge should last you a heck of a lot longer. Also, if you get those batteries, the ones that came with your mouse will be handy if for some reason you run out of juice.
BTW I'm using an MX700 and a Logitech Internet Navigator keyboard on my desktop. On my laptop, it's the keyboard that's on it with a Microsoft Intellimouse Optical SE.

Yeah, I got a couple of those lying around too and think they're great. I really like the old "IBM selectric-feel" the keyboard action/click has, but the damned thing is about 3-4" thick and just don't fit well on either of my keyboard trays without leaving room to type. :(
But someday when I clean out my basement and move the PCs down into the computer room I'll be building...someday. ;)
Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer v1.0

I like the extra buttons for gaming and web browsing, optical seems far mroe reliable than balled mice, it's comfortable, no pad required, overall the best mouse I ever had :)
Microsoft Multimedia Keyboard

I like have the CD controls, volume, quicklaunch buttons on top of the keyboard, and it's comfortable. However I would not buy this keyboard again because I've found the F-LOCK key to be really aggrivating
and I always buy corded everything. I've had bad luck with wireless keyboard, and this way I don't have to worry about batteries

I'm using a Logitech MX700 mouse and a Microsoft natural split keyboard. I kinda want to replace the keyboard with one that has the glowing keys. Unfortunately, @ $99 they're a little on the pricey side.
How is the Logitech Elite Keyboard? Should I get that or some Microsoft keyboard?
Okay, would you prefer the Logitech Elite Keyboard or the Microsoft MultiMedia Keyboard?
Secondly, would you prefer the Logitech MX 500 mouse or the Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer?

I'm using a cheap $2 unknown brand keyboard and a $10 HP USB mouse.
i prefer the logitech mx 500, and the logitech elite keyboard... like i said, im done with ports for keyboards... i dont wanna deal with those things anymore.
i replaced my microsoft optical wheel mouse with the logitech mx500... and i love my logitech, should of done it a long time ago... very precise, but a little on the heavy side compared to the microsoft
