Brian Cochran has completed a review of EVGA's GeForce 8800 GT KO 512MB. Brian checks out the performance of the 65nm fabricated GPU under Windows XP and at the resolution of 1680x1050.

How does it stack up? Well, I put it through a series of benchmark and in-game tests under Windows XP to determine how well it performs. To utilize the generous amount of memory, results for 4x and 8x antialiasing were also provided.

Wow, I'm surprised at those Crysis results. No performance hit when enabling 4xAA? Any chance it wasn't being applied? Or is that been the norm for this game and "enthusiast" class cards?

Nice review, Brian!

Well I think he might have the first two backward because somehow he got a 2 fps gain using 4x AA versus no AA.

I double checked with my fraps reports, and then for a sanity check, I just ran the benchmarks again. I set Crysis to no AA. I set the nVidia control panel to 4x AA, 16x AF with Supersampling and Gamma Correction. At 4xAA/16xAF, I ran 2 additional benchmarks, 31.3 and 30.6. At 0xAA/16xAF, my 2 additional benchmarks are 28.8 and 28.5. Everything seems to be in the correct order.

Were you able to see a visible difference?

You are correct, when I took side-by-side frame shots, I couldn't tell the difference between the 0xAA and 4xAA shots. After testing other AA settings, I determined that the 169.09 ForceWare beta driver was not forcing the AA. I set the AA to application controlled, and only set the AA in the application, and I have posted a revised benchmark. Thanks for making me think about this in a different way, and take another look at the Crysis benchmark in the review.

Again, nice job on the review.
