Answer #1 = Defnitely NVIDIA nForce2. Even Via's newly released KT400a hasn't caught up to nForce2.

Answer #2 = Your question is poorly phrased and needs refinement "Best" for what?

Price?
- check Pricewatch
Performance?
- Arguable
Stability?
- MSI K7N2G-ILSR
Overclocking?
- ABIT NF7-S or Epox 8RDA+
Physical size?
= Shuttle or Biostar
PCB Color?
- MSI (Red) or Chaintech (Gold)
Soundstorm Certification?
- Shuttle, Abit, or MSI
Network connectivity?
- ASUS A7N8X Deluxe

Answer #3 = I bought a Shuttle SN41G2 as a home for my Barton 3000+.

Best has many flavors. Each flavor has as many answers as the number of people answering. How much does a fat dog weigh?

I think the Asus A7N8X-Deluxe2.0 as long as it 's a version 2 is a good board or all N-force 2 boards is going to be the fastest to run the XP3000 and a distant 2 would be the KT 400.

A few bells and whistles. Firewire, etc.

Big difference for me. I have both the deluxe and the non deluxe. Deluxe has much better onboard sound beating out most stand alone sound cards. Deluxe also has two integrated NIC's as opposed to one. I believe it also has more usb, and a firewire built in. I've had problems with the bios on both boards though. I'm not sure if this is what the 2.0 fixes or not.
