Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package is now available.
I've already tested QUAKE Wars without 2005 SP1. If Visual C++ 2005 SP1 is not installed (and neither is 2008) the result is no sound. I installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 and the sound was back. It seems like Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 is no longer needed on my system if 2008 is installed. BioShock also makes use of Visual C++.
