AMD will have a big setback with Q4 2007 financial result with an impairment charge. They expect to announce huge assets writedown with unknown amount yet determind from $5.4bn acquistion of ATI in 2006.

I believed ATI was really worth $2.4bn, overpaid $3bn and AMD probably looking at $1bn to $3bn losses in Q4 2007 financial result.
hmm
One month after the deal was completed, AMD and Nvidia (Charts) Corp. - ATI's chief rival in the graphics chip business - disclosed that they had received Justice Department subpoenas in a criminal investigation of possible antitrust violations in the graphics industry.

Well, it's pretty volatile right now in the AMD camp. I would wait until whether they decide to shut down their discrete video division or sell it off first.

You should have had a broker do a put or a short on it for you, back in the Fall like I did.Would have made some damn good money on your investment.
Yeah, I'd definitely wait for AMD to come up with a product that can actually compete with another again before buying any of their stock.
Wow, flew off the handle a bit? :D
Last time I saw any reviews the X2 6000 and E6600 where rather neck-and-neck. Furthermore, while the E6600 was in production it cost atleast $50 more than the X2.
But you are still correct in that I should have used a current cpu in the comparison. I guess I didn't cause I haven't really followed many of the reviews recently- thus I stuck to something I was familiar with.

After looking through 5 pages of search results this is all I could find. And it isn't even pitting the E6600 against the 6000. :( Anyways, the X2 5000 was running at 2.6GHz whereas the 6000 runs and 3GHz. So using your imagination to fill in the gap you can see the 6000 should perform near identical to the E6600 at stock speeds. Notice in my previous post and this one I'm saying *stock speeds*. When the E6600 was in production it went for about $230. The X2 6000 only goes for about $160. To the avg. Joe the X2 6000 was the better deal.
But you are still correct in that I should have compared it to a current chip, such as the one you mentioned for only $180. Again I didn't cause I haven't kept up on reviews for Intel's most recent releases. I just stuck to what I knew, in other words. ;) Sorry for any misunderstanding.
The e6600 is much faster:

Not to mention the power consumption:

If you read my quote you'll notice that review isn't pitting the E6600 against the 6000+ but pits it against the 5000+ instead. Use your imagination to fill in the blank using the FX-62: 200MHz faster netted in around 20fps increase. Add in another 200MHz (the 6000+ runs at 3Ghz) and you're pretty darn close to the E6600. ;)

Seriously, quite good. I've been getting quite a bit of people asking me to do computer work for them outside of my job as EasyTech at Staples. So far, for about 3 1/2 hours work I made $120 from one dude, and another guy just agreed to pay me $50/hr to help him with his AIO. :D
It sure is a Merry Christmas, ain't it? :p
