Im going to get a Q6600 G0 and want a good recommendation on an intel chipset motherboard, any suggestions? I would like to overclock as well.

Thanks!

Look in my sig... you know what I will recommend. Gigabyte has $100 P35's that are good as well... there's several threads going right now about the same question.

Humm.. ASUS P5K-E or Deluxe Gigabyte (whatever theres a **** load) Abit IP35 Pro or even the base model is a great OCer. I'd stay away from useless X38 boards they offer nothing more then Crossfire and since AMD sucks we wont need that :p

My Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L is doing well. I actually have a stable overclock (ran for an hour with no errors in OCCT) of my Q6700 at 3.5ghz (stock is 2.66Ghz.) If it weren't for how hot the CPU gets at that speed (don't want to spend that much on cooling) I would continue to run it at that (may still if it gets as cool or cooler while actually inside of my case.)

I imagine that you could get a similar result with a Q6600.

I can't give you a precise choice, but I can tell you that you want to stay away from ASUS.

Asus budget P35 boards (P5K, P5K-E...) have memory compatibility issues and vdamper doesn't work as it should - trust me, I have a P5K.
On the memory side, it won't boot right with performance ram, DDR1066, that needs more than 2.0V to run. You have to wait 15+ seconds and hit the reset button after a cold boot to get the overclocking failed screen and enter the bios, save your settings again and get the system running.
On the vdrop side, there's a whooping 0.20V gap between bios set Vcore and Windows (under) load Vcore.
The higher end models (Deluxe) don't have the vdrop issue, I'm not sure about memory though.

Gigabyte, there's too many models and revisions, I get confused, make sure you get a board with the proper overclocking settings in the bios. :D

If I were to buy a P35 board now it would probably be the Abit P35-E or the P35 vanilla/Pro.

^I have a Deluxe and have none of those issues thank god! :p Sounds a bit scary tho...My Vdrop is a bit much from bios to a 1GHz OC under full load your looking at .05 :o

Yeah, it's scary when you set the bios vcore to 1.525v, Windows reports 1.46v idle and under load it goes 1.32-1.34v. :D
Still, enough to get my Q6600 up to 3.5GHz stable in most games and 3.25GHz stable with Prime.

I hit a snag... at 1.30 in bios I can hit 3GHz on my Q6600 1.4V takes me to 3.4 stable prime OCCT the works (coretemp is 58C full load) but after that I'm a bit afraid to raise the Vcore I mean I had to raise it .1V just to get 400MHz :( I might try 1.5V just to see what I can do at some point...

Pencil mod (http://67.90.82.13/forums/showpost.php?p=2357868&postcount=33) solves the vdroop problem on my P5K. (nana2)

First Gigabyte P35-DS3R was faulty. However, the RMA is going well so far.
Just installed a Gigabyte P35-DS3L, and newegg gave me the Rev2.0 which has more USB ports, basically the same as the R model, is running great. Love it, will try overclocking tomorrow. Installed my Zalman and CPU temps are ~25C idle, and the northbridge in the 30's. Super cheap too, less than 100 at the egg. (the p35 i mean)
