View Full Version : Do 2d GPU clocks speeds affect WMP11 performance?

Iv'e got this 1080p video that my Dell XPS Laptop M1710 (T7200 2Ghz, 7950GTX) has a hard time handling. After 10-20 sec the video falls behind the Audio.

When watching taskmgr the 1st core is barely over 5% while the 2nd one is maxed @ 100%.

I've tried the 720p version of the same video and it runs great, 2nd core around 70-75%.

So, 2 questions,

Can I get WMP11 to split the load better or will overclocking the 2d Mhz's of my GPU affect this at all?

Iv'e also tried different video players like Zoom Player and VLC with the same results.

I'm pretty sure that WMP doesn't make use of your GPU...so if you're lagging in HD videos, it is because of your CPU.

fixed it...

I had this codec package installed http://www.cccp-project.net/

So, after reading around about how everyone else uses the k-Lite Codec Pack I said what the heck?

Well, 1080p video dropped my 2nd core to around 60% and everything is smooth as silk with no v/a sync problems.
