View Full Version : XFX GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB Review
Almost as same as mine..still..I am thinking of getting a Zalman resorator XT and zalman 8800 GTX GPU block.....
Can you know overclock the shader processors via rivatuner? If so...how much?
Nice review Mike. I may be able to land a GT soon, very excited about it.
One thing I don't understand is Nvidias methodology behind these releases. Most folks on any kind of a budget (ME!) will look at benchies/cost and go for the GT every time. It's as if NV is purposely competing directly with themselves.
Either way, great time for gamers on a budget.

I am kinda baffled by the line up too.
We know 8800GT was a "rain on ATI's 3870 parade" bomb. In the words of Anadtech.. "NVIDIA Demolishes... NVIDIA?" LOL. I guess they had no choice. It was that or drop the price on 8800GTS 640MB to $239. That would have really pissed the ones that paid ~$400 give or take. 8800GT was a genius move and I have no idea how they pull that off they way they do. Friggan market ningas is what they are.
But then the 8800GTS 512MB. Hmmm... They release a card 10% faster than the 8800GT for almost $100 more? And people buy it! How do they DO THAT!
Baffling.
Although I have to admit. It is almost the coolest looking card visually I have ever looked at. It has the Hummer look. Big block of granite 4x4 kinda thing going on.
But aside from that. Not a logical performance per dollar selection in the current 3850(256MB) -> 8800GT(256MB) -> 3870 -> 8800GT -> 8800GTX -> 3870CF -> 8800GTX SLI line up.
If that card was say $289? It would be my Step Up choice from this 8800GT SC wtihout a doubt.
