EVGA 680i + (EVGA 8800 Ultra x 3) + (PCIe Connectors x 6) + Bridge + 1200 Watt PSU = :afro:

So here it is, 3-Way SLI. First thing to note, you really need a beefy PSU in order to run 3-Way SLI. My PC Power and Cooling 1KW couldn't handle the load, this new TT 1.2KW is rock solid.

As expected, 3-Way SLI is fast, really fast. Meaning to take good advantage of it, expect to run 8X or 16xAA. I posted a few benchmarks below, no Crysis yet, as I will wait for the patch to evaluate that. Some apps take really advantage of 3-Way, others not so much, but that could be a CPU limitation.

3-Way SLI is actually pretty stable, I remember back to the 7950GX2 Quad SLI days... and... well... thats for another story... :D But 3-Way SLI actually works very well, and I have not come across any incompatible app yet, or any abnormalities. Must be the 3-Way AFR ;)

So, here are some benchies comparing it to standard SLI, and also, see below for a COD4 screenshot at 16xQAA/16xAF, notice the framerate :D

bit-tech has a Nvidia 3-way SLI on nForce 680i preview/review

I would be right in thinking Jacob, that you have 3 Ultra's now.

I'd still like to know how the GT's tri-SLI setup is gonna happen. ie, will it be through the PCI-E 2.0 bus or are they gonna bring out a revision of the card with two SLI connectors?

that's awesome.

3-way AFR must be amazing. :drooling:

the cool thing about AFR is that it must just keep getting better with more cards, hehe.

So what they are going to do is go back in time 2 months ago and restate that the 8800GT's arent going to support triple SLI.

Guru3D did a review (http://www.guru3d.com/newsitem.php?id=6214) today too.

I'm actually surprised that it has such an impact on the performance, I thought it may've followed in the Quad-SLI footsteps...

I wonder how it'd fair with dual PCB cards in quad-SLI, lol.

Hmm, have you tried WiC in DX9 mode? Didn't seem like your getting much of a boost at all. Also, do you have FSX or UT3 to test on?

Hmmm for some reason my pics didn't post... I will post them tonight.

UT3 runs really good, but that runs good with a single card too

One more thing that I know everyone wants to know, what are the temps on those cards? (especially the middle one)

I have one more question as well, what do the SLI load bars look like in 3 way SLI? I there the big bar on the left side, then half a bar on the right?

jAkUp
12-13-07, 12:02 PM
I will take a pic tonight, basically it is a bar on the left with the words 3-Way SLI
