View Full Version : Mitchell Report Comes Out @ 2PM EST
what public trial? (besides, aren't trials usually public?)
the hearings in Congress and the Mitchell report that was released today are two entirely different things. the report was funded by MLB, not the US gov't, and was started by Bud Selig. this is not a criminal investigation. rather, it is MLB's attempt to clean up the steroid culture in baseball and part of it's response to Congress' claims that steroids are widely used in sport, baseball in particular. the gov't has an interest in MLB because it is a protected monopoly.
By putting all this in the media to let the public hang these guys and say "see we are doing something". Yet it is MLB that allowed them to do this for so many years.
They are not different. Congress stepped in and wasted money on a non-issue and stepped on MLB's neck. MLB reacted in this way. The whole thing is a joke and a waste of time.
Government has no interest other than being in the way and in our lives.
what pisses me off about this entire thing is how they absolutely ****ing SLANDERED the names of individuals. this report should not have been released like this. it should have been kept private.
the evidence regarding every one of these players is purely CIRCUMSTANTIAL and would not hold up in court.
Clemens is one of the greatest pitchers that has ever played the game and the fact that his name is tarnished by this report is sickening. he has been dominant since the late 80's and i seriously doubt that he took steroids to get there.

Don't get me wrong here guys. The players who are cheaters should be marked as such and looked down upon. I also say that the MLB is 100% wrong also. They allowed all of this. The Player's Union is even more disgusting. They fought to allow this to continue. Then you have politicians saying "we have to do something". What!? DO WHAT!? How about you protect the country and let us sort out our own affairs.
Those who broke the law should be punished... IN COURT not the media.

Clemens is a asshole and always has been. I don't doubt he took it at anytime.

Agree, the MLB brass, the owners, and the players union are as guilty as anyone in this.
LOL at the Brewers for signing Gagne to a $10 million dollar deal last week.
