Okay guys, you may remember my previous thread (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=95819) concerning stuttering in games... or you may not :p. Either way, after months of fooling around with different things I think I've come to the conclusion that too many resources are being shared with my 7800GTX's.

Here's what System Information tells me:-

I/O Port 0x00000000-0x00000CF7 PCI bus
I/O Port 0x00000000-0x00000CF7 Direct memory access controller

I/O Port 0x000003C0-0x000003DF PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge
I/O Port 0x000003C0-0x000003DF NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX

IRQ 9 Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
IRQ 9 SCSI/RAID Host Controller

Memory Address 0xD3000000-0xD5FFFFFF PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge
Memory Address 0xD3000000-0xD5FFFFFF NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX

Memory Address 0xC0000000-0xCFFFFFFF PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge
Memory Address 0xC0000000-0xCFFFFFFF NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX

Memory Address 0xA0000-0xBFFFF PCI bus
Memory Address 0xA0000-0xBFFFF PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge
Memory Address 0xA0000-0xBFFFF NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX

I/O Port 0x000003B0-0x000003BB PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge
I/O Port 0x000003B0-0x000003BB NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX

I/O Port 0x00008000-0x00008FFF PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge
I/O Port 0x00008000-0x00008FFF NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX

Memory Address 0xB0000000-0xBFFFFFFF PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge
Memory Address 0xB0000000-0xBFFFFFFF NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX

As you can see, my video card(s) are sharing a lot of IRQ's with other components.

Question is, if I disable all of this stuff via device manager, won't I inadvertently turn off other devices?

Thanks in advance.

I actually had issues like that a long time ago and basically the only way I could find to fix it after extensive researching was to format and reinstall Windows. Ended up doing that a few times until it worked right. What I found was everytime I formatted and reinstalled, my IRQ's and stuff would change around differenty each time, and I just stopped when it landed right where my video card wasn't shared with hardly anything and then all was well. Apparently you can't change IRQ/DMA on some stuff in Windows, it just manages it automagically and shouldn't ever cause issues but I know it does.

Good luck!
