He had three kids? Maybe I misread it, but I just read the 1st page. I've never seen or heard of anyone's life fall to **** like this. I hope mine never does. I didn't think all of the negative publicity was necessary. Just my humble opinion.

I really do feel sorry for the guy, I doubt he ever imagined that this would be the result of fighting some dogs.

Why is the letter pathetic? Seems honest and from the heart. Given he has lost so much already I'm surprised they gave him two years. I wanted to see him punished, but 12 months would have done the trick.

I can't get any of the letters to show up. I can get the summary of the article but nothing else works.

I hate to be a naysayer, but that letter seems a bit contrived. I would venture to guess that Vick's agent helped him with that in order to gain the respect of the public so that once he gets out of jail, the public will be more likely to accept him back into the NFL...It doesn't seem heartfelt to me at all...None of us can really know though, so I guess it's all just up to opinion...

Exactly.

Everyone is sorry when they get caught.

He does have to pay his debt to society, but I always believe in giving someone a second chance. If he really is getting more involved in the community, helping PETA, and trying to help people in general, then I think he deserves a second chance.

I mean, give me a break, their are FAR FAR worse crimes than dogfighting in this world.

I don't know, the letter may be contrived, it may not be. I'll never ever know for sure. Sometimes it takes a really rude wake up call for some people to clean certain areas of their lives up. Maybe this is his wake up call.

Personally I would just rather see him serve his time, get out and be a better human being.

I hope Vick comes out better after this as well. In his college days, I was always proud of the guy because he seemed to know how to keep his nose out of trouble. He had a sense of class about him.

I believe in second chances, but that's it: strike three and you're out.

I DO believe that Vick is going to coming out a better man after this. But that doesn't mean that I think the letter was anything more than a plea for less time in jail. The judge probably gets at least one of those letters every day. Very few people are sincerely sorry for anything they've done until they are caught. I don't know if Vick was or not, and to be honest I really shouldn't judge the guy. It just gave me one hell of a laugh when he tried to push the issue off to his childhood in the "streets of Newport News" and how he was exposed to things like dogfighting. That statement knocked him down a peg in my book.

At any rate, I'm willing to give him another shot. I hope to see him back in the NFL in 3 or so and keeping his nose clean.

I agree with both of these.

I think he did something terrible and stupid, and he definitely pissed away everything he had earned... but as much as I love animals (dogs in particular), I don't think this should mean the end of his career or his life. Especially given the sketchy-at-best information we have about him actually hurting any animals himself. Funding an operation like this is not good, but being looked at as a psycho animal torturing future-serial-killer for it is a bit of a stretch.

Lots of people make bad decisions and end up this way (often times, much much worse). The real test for Vick will be if he can turn his life around without falling again, especially if he actually returns to the NFL.

10 bucks says the Cowboys will pick Vick up when he's released. Life will go back to being "normal" for him.

And I don't think the letter is "pathetic" at all. The whole point of jail is to let a person know they ****ed up and to not do it again. That, and letting others know that they will end up just like Vick if they do the same. I think that point is getting out loud and clear.

$10 says he goes to the Dolphins cause they still won't have their **** together. Hell, the Eagles may pick him up since McNabbs is falling apart.

And they still were able to beat the 11-1 Cowgirls yesterday. ;)

The Cowboys aren't all that, but they are still pretty damn good.

Cowboys are full of a bunch of thugs and low lifes. They pick up anyone.

They don't need a QB though. A completely weak team with a crappy OL is more prone to go for Vick. Dallas has a decent enough line, they don't need a scrambler.

I highly doubt that they will be going to the superbowl. I do believe that Green Bay will beat them in the playoffs.

I'm hoping that this sends the message that celebrities aren't above the law.

My main gripe on the "pathetic" point is that he didn't write it until after he got caught, lied, got high, got caught again, and THEN decided he maybe, might have, possibly, messed up. Then he blamed it on his childhood.

Atlanta might still take him

I doubt they will have their crap together by then.

Especially since the coach resigned...

Yeah, another Falcons coach left... big surprise there, eh?

Doesn't matter if Dallas has a decent lineup. Half the entire team is set to go to jail. They need to take whatever they can get.
