The 8800GT's are fast too. (Had 2 of them for a month, 14.300 3DMarks'06 @ 1920x1200) These 8800GTS cards give more speed only @ 1600x1200 @ lots of AA + AF and @ 1920x1200 with AA and AF. The cooler is very good. I peak load with both cards @ 70C, where my GT's were high in the 80's. The cooler is more silent, and the advantage of the GTS cooler is that it blows the warm air out of the case. But its more expensive too. Maybe new drivers will give it a little boost, but these (pre-overclocked) GTS cards are only about 10 to 15% faster than the (overclocked) GT's. @ High res maybe a little more but not much.

If someone asks me; I say: buy a GT. Or wait untill march and pick up a 9800GTX if you can afford it.

So, do you mean if we are not going to use 1600x1200 or higher resolution, it makes little difference performance-wise?

Yep.

The only difference I noticed that I could use V-Sync in some games where I could not use it with the GT's, and a little more Antialiasing (4x instead of 2x) in Bioshock and CoD4 @ 1920x1200 with V-sync...

I run SLI, so I cant tell you how much the performance difference between two single cards is. I did not test that. :o

Edit; @ low res (under 1600x1200) the cards are major bottlenecked.

It's at CCL for 209.98. That's a damn good price!

So, two 8800GTs in SLI mode beats out both the GTX and Ultra (singles)? Hmmm...interesting. Cost-wise, the two GT's will still be a little expensive than a single GTX (or Ultra), correct?

Correct :D Two GT's/GTS's will be waaaaay faster in most games. The 1600x1200 thing still applys though due to the memory bus.

I ran my two 8800GTS 640mb (621/1458/900) with 3DMark06 at 1920x1200 with my Q6600 at 3gig and scored 14161 SM2 5884 SM3 6258 CPU 4106 ,but I thought the CPU score would be about the same but two 8800GT's scored nearly 700 more .Is that because of the 8800GT cards or does the different motherboard have more to do with it.But still IMO if you have a 8800GTS 640mb ,i see no point in getting at 8800GT or the new GTS ,I would wait until next year when the 9800's comes out.But if you don't have a newer card then I still think the 8800GT is the best deal.I ran it on Windows Vista 32bit ,I guess it might have been a little higher if I used windows XP .

The Zalmans seem to fit most boards. I was asking MikeC if the PCB on the GTS 512 was the same as on the GT but he didn't get back :(

sytaylor.... same here. Moving from a 3800x2, 6800Gt to a Q6600, GTS512....

Looking forward to some 1600x1200 gaming on max settings.... not got Crysis as i am waiting in the first patch ( and maybe 9series ).... Still, got orange box, Silent Hunter 4, Oblivion, Stalker & COD4 coming to keep me busy....:D

As i will still have me existing ( old ) rig, i will be doing some comparisions.... it will be interesting.... :D

You mean the 9800 series or whatever they will be, as that would make more sense than what you said.
